Every body is different! I worked out my entire pregnancy and was NOT ready to be back to serious work outs till 5 months. I wasn’t sleeping and it was just too much for my body, so I did yoga. The idea that we need to jump back into working out is INSANE. We all need to give our minds and bodies a break.
Its been 7 months mine still hurts plus i broke my toe on new years. I can't find time to Excercise so coodles to you. Glad you can get time to yourself
I’ve had 2 c-sections and the recovery was very different each time so I wouldn’t go by others’ experiences. Just be patient with your body and give it time to heal. You just had major surgery!
I went back 2 .5 weeks post partum.. I have been doing crossfit for 4 years and kept going from start to the day I was induced on memorial day. I am 7 mo pp and still getting better today each day.
I had a c section and began really slowly with specific ab workouts that target transverse abs. If you search for some transverse ab movements. Do those for a couple weeks before moving into other stuff. It helps build your internal core strength which will help with all the aches. Go slow and build on them each day. Never do things that actually hurt.
Hey, i was very active before Baby as well, tried to get back into it because my back hurt and she was getting heavy really quick... i overdid it and made it worse so i had to get some physical therapy- see if your insurance will cover some for you!BCBS fully covered 30 sessions for me.. after pregnancy and especially if you’re breastfeeding your ligaments are more lax because they had to be for delivery, if you’re breastfeeding this won’t go away until you’re done. So any “heavy” exercise- and running counts- will actually make it worse. Start slower! It took me 2 months of physical therapy to get back to a point where i could do things on my own.
I’m trying to get back into being active as well! Just haven’t had the urge or motivation. What are some tips? I had a Csection as well!
Hi mama, I know it’s frustrating but be patient, you put your body thru a lot and it needs to slowly recover and get back to where it was. Before I had my baby I was working out all the way but then I didn’t for almost 2 month PP. I’m 8 months PP and I feel like I’m finally back to my old self or better. It took me almost 6 months to feel like this, I focused mostly on lifting weights and taking walks w baby and eating very healthy most of the time.
Congrats mama,pre/post natal coach here. How are you working your abs. I would stay away from running until your fully restored. There’s ways to strength your pelvic floor in many other ways than you’d think. First stuff off with breathing exercises that connect your pelvic floor with diaphragm. Hope that helps ❤️
I had my son 2 months ago vaginally so I went back to the gym when i got cleared by the doctor. I only go once a week but my knees are so sore! It’s so weird because nothing else hurts except my knees :( makes me feel old
I had a vaginal birth. I attend a new mom's fitness class at 15 weeks PP. The fitness instructor talked to me before class since I was new and told me to do nothing high impsct the first 4 months-no jumping, no running, no plyometrics because everything is still healing. She suggested to focus on yoga and pilates ❤️
I, too, had a c-section (second one) and I do an online workout on Facebook called Mamaz in Motion. She specializes in postpartum workouts so gives you multiple modifications. It’s only $10/month and she’s got tons of workouts to choose from but also does daily workouts M-F. She gives you 2 weeks free to try it out too. I like it because she’s a mom too (usually has her LOs with her during workout) but also doesn’t push you (and you are doing it in your own home so you don’t have to do something that’s not comfortable). Let me know if you have more questions or are interested! Hang in there!
I also had a c section and was used to working out regularly (circuit training/spinning). I’m 13 weeks pp and resumed working out at 6 weeks pp (dr gave me clearance). I’m still sore but it is slowly getting better. The dr said it could take a few months/up to a year, so I’m trying to be patient 😊
I would recommend physical therapy for the pelvic floor and internal abdominals. You got to rebuild the foundation that holds everything in.
Yes! No crunch type movements until there is a finger width or less amount of space between your abs.
I have been doing 5-10 min high intensity. Then yoga stretches. A personal trainer told me it can take up to a year. Also since they cut your ab muscle it’s best to slowing work on that part so it gives you body a chance to rebuild properly. Example. cat/ cows. Also YouTube is great for work outs to help csection. Good luck!

I agree that the pain lingers a while but now my son is 4 I don’t have pain but the area is still numb 😕
C section will always have a tendency to hirt im 14 month pp and i still have aches and pains there i hear people even 10 years later still have pains there
That’s what I was going to say. Make sure your ab muscles didn’t separate during pregnancy. There is a name for it I forgot. If so, certain ab exercises can be more harmful than good.
