Unbearable rib/under breast pain

*Picture so I don’t get lost!*

Please somebody help a sore mama out 😩 I have been getting ‘rib pain’ (underneath my left breast) when I lie on my left side for quite a while now and it’s only got worse. I’ve heard that it could be from the growing uterus etc and the lack of space which is fine.. but it is getting so unbearable and the pain doesn’t even go away if I change to my right side, put a pillow under, roll slightly onto my front, back.. nothing! After the pain starts, it doesn’t instantly go away after I move either. Clearly whatever is being squashed is being bruised or something (it’s still hurting now as I’m sat up typing this). Last night I woke at midnight and sat up in bed because it was the only way to ease this horrendous pain slightly. I fell asleep SAT UP in bed. I then woke up a further 5-6 times because i kept moving and the pain came back. I’ve spoken to my midwife about it before and she’s said it’s normal but surely there must be something I can do.. anybody else experienced this? I fear I have another 3, maybe more weeks of this! 😞

Beautiful picture !!! Try and soak or put some kind of muscle relaxing cream there ,.. a heating pad is always good to have if you don’t want to opt and take any Tylenol for the pain . Or even try laying on your right side to see if it subsides .

I’ve had this for weeks it’s always worse at night and constantly keeps me awake 😭 I use paracetamol and a hot water water which usually works and is what the midwife told me to try xx

I’ve had super severe rib pain since I was 18 weeks, I’m now 28 weeks and I feel the same. I don’t complain about anything else because it completely takes over.
Both my ribs feel bruised and beyond inflamed, can’t sleep so I rotate back and forth all night taking turns on my ribs. and every time I sneeze I’m in tears. I feel like going to the hospital always but I know there’s nothing we can do to help this /: I would say a heating pad is our friend and Tylenol. Hang in there mama! It’s all going to be worth it

I had a breech baby so I experienced the rib cage and under the right boob pains as well as the baby head was stuck in my rib cage, baby is now 2 months old. Usually sleeping sat up and changing sides to left got me some sleep. I slept a few times through out the day when I could, going for walks also helped tire you out so you could get naps. I napped on the sofa sometimes. He still likes sleeping on top of me 😄 it'll be worth in the end x

Ask your doctor to check your gallbladder for stones.

I know you probably already thought of this but is it possibly the babys foot pushing on you. In my last few weeks her foot was permenantly pushing & kicking under my ribs & it hurt really bad. I would jiggle her about & push her foot with my hand to move her when it became bad. You could see the belly stick out where her foot was stuck she pushed/stretched that hard. She does have long legs so i guess she just need the space in my short body 😂

This started with me yesterday ☹️xx

Try gaviscon incase it's digestion...this is what I was advised. Paramedic said it's the stomach muscles spasming and contracting. So much going on in there!!

I had this throughout my pregnancy, I got a really long bottle water bottle-like a snake 🤣 that I tucked under my boobs, and it helped x

I've also been suffering with this since about 20 weeks! Its feel so intense when it comes on and nothing helps it 😫 the only advice my doctor gave me was I could take codeine to help the pain which I personally dont do as I dont like the idea of taking medication while pregnant unless really necessary but you could give it a go. Hope it stops soon for you 🥰

It could be preeclampsia as well. If you’re experiencing any other symptoms (headaches, blurry vision, high blood pressure) I would definitely go get looked at.

I have no advice for you, I suffered a lot and never found relief. I begged to be induced early (didn’t end up getting induced until 40+5) because from 36 weeks I was SO MISERABLE

But the silver living is it will be over soon and you will have a beautiful baby. I hope you feel better soon!

I’m with you on this I’m 39 weeks Saturday and I’ve had it for the past 4 weeks. Agonising. I actually think
It’s a trapped nerve off the way I’ve been sleeping. So painful hot water bottle is great but it’s constantly there I feel you. Try looking up mama mio lucky legs spray for restless legs..... I know for your legs but I use it on there and it actually helps really well xx

Omg I have the same issue. Does yours burn?

My first two both liked pushing their butts in my ribs on right side too haha they were really long so i couldnt get much break from it so i know how you feel i still sometimes ha e fantom pain there years later haha

Yes, this is me 24/7! No amount of pushing baby down, pain meds(tylenol), cold compresses, side laying or practically any position relieves the pain. Even when telling my dr I'm in excruciating pain and can't do anything anymore, they have nothing to suggest and won't induce just because I'm in extreme discomfort. Baby just doesn't want to move her butt out of my ribs. I'm like, i know there are discomforts but pain all day for several months? 🤔

Girl, me too. I have a short torso and I’ve been getting the worst rib pain everyday. Even when I’m just sitting, but especially when I’m laying down. I have 7 weeks to go! I mentioned it to my OB today and all she told me was to take some Tylenol 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve had this pain too! My boy is breech with his head under my ribs 😅 I’ve found that rubbing some Deep Freeze gel on the pain and just around the area eases it enough for me to fall asleep!

Avatar

I hated this side effect of pregnancy! Nothing really helped me, but stretching out my sides brought temporary relief

Avatar

Omg yes! I had that pain under my right rib for months! It's awful! I think I eventually started using a heating pad sometimes, which did ease it a little - you might want to check with the midwife that it's safe to do. I'm pretty sure my son's butt was under my ribcage most of that time lol. When my belly dropped, though, that pain went away! It was so weird because by then I was used to it! Hope you find some relief soon! ♥️

Avatar

I’m the same! If I look in the mirror my tummy just looks like it tugging on my ribs and they’re just about holding it up 😂! It’s even sore to touch! I’m gonna try heat tonight and just adding it to the list of things for me to feel sorry for myself 😂 😂 😂 xxx

Is it cheating

My husband just told me that at work he and his male friends/coworkers pinch each others nipples as like a joke, I think it’s inappropriate and it’s cheating in a way and he does not agree he thinks it’s just funny and nothings wrong with it

Front sleeping

My baby is 9 months old and I was told a while back that the sleep should always start in there back, is this true and why?
My baby always wants to front sleep now and I’m fighting every night to get the sleep to start on his back or side

Is nursery a bit out of line?

Today I learned that my son was “seen by someone” when picking him up. Apparently speech therapist saw him in the nursery to evaluate him and I only learned about it on pick up.

No warning, no even proper explanation of what triggered it. With one staff member saying “he is not speaking at all”, and another dismissing it and saying it’s completely normal.

And everyone seem to dismiss my shock as he is the most chatty happiest child at home.

So it triggers me that instead of finding a way to get him “open up” and make him feel secure so he starts speaking naturally. They now decided he needs to be “fixed” and probably push him into more anxiety with it. Without even consulting us.

Too much pram time?

LO is 15 months old. He's not walking yet. We've always gone for 2 walks a day, for about 30-45 mins each. I've found this helps LO's mood and also my own mental health. It's occurring to me that perhaps this is too much "container" time. When we're home, I encourage loads of floor time and he enjoys pulling to stand and cruising on furniture. His only other "container" time is in his high chair 4 times a day for meals, and for about 10 mins at a time when I'm getting his food ready, unless someone else is there to watch him (our flat is small and not open plan).

Witching hour??

Pretty sure my 7 week old has a strict “lose all chill at 6pm” policy 😅

Evenings = crying, pacing, questioning my life choices 😂

Fed, burped, cuddled… still a bit of a mystery. Any tips from mums who survived this stage? How did you get through the evening chaos?!
