Hey mummas, does anyone suffer from ibs (irritable bowel syndrome) and pregnant or was pregnant.
Was there anything you took to make you not have gross poo lol sorry tmi. Some foods agree with me some don't. And I can have the runs badly.
Can this hurt my baby?
Thankyou for reading :)

All I did just now was search on google... but if you’re concerned about how IBS will affect you while pregnant you should consult your dr.

Yeah currently pregnant 32 + 1 FTM ! I already knew my triggers for IBS before getting pregnant which has helped. But drinking plenty of water more than 6 glasses usually helps as i read the stomach muscles dont perform the usual peristalsis process when pregnant. Defo avoid lots of white breads and carbs all at the one time. But you would know what foods would suit or not. I did get sachets of orange drink to help with going to the toilet from the doctor so maybe ask them or try chatting with the pharmacist(am in the UK so i assume they r named differently there).. it’s just uncomfortable tbh and ive tried eatinf fruits and yogurts too softer type foods to help. Hope this helps 💗 xx

I seem to only get this in pregnancy. I have hours of cramping and sitting in the loo scared I’m hurting my baby but I’m sure everything is fine. I wish I could help you but I’m glad I’m not alone. I get scared to eat anything incase I need to go but them scared
I’m not feeding my baby. Cant win 😩

Just keep up your fluid intake if your 💩 alot!
I've suffered years with IBS and for this pregnancy I've suffered twice with bad cramping knotting sensations

Something is triggering it so I try and work out what it is and remove it or limit it. I have a lactose intolerance but garlic and onions or any greasy food sets off mine. And in pregnancy it's like I had "poo contractions" and then would literally "give birth" in the loo. Sometimes I felt like I was gonna pass out was awful. After pregnancy my tolerances were normal again x

I had suspected IBS before pregnancy but didn't have enough time to figure out what it was before I fell pregnant. First trimester I would have water or breakfast and 20 minutes later have incredibly severe cramping (to the extent that I was doubled over and could not stand or speak). This would happen in waves over an hour or two and then diarrhoea. Now I'm second trimester I've got cramps though less severe and constipation. So much fun.
It's also really frustrating when a lot of Google or midwife tells me "just manage it the way you did pre pregnancy" when I only just found out about it and didn't have any techniques beforehand!!!

Hi I’ve had ibs since I was 14 and I’m now 27. When i was pregnant my son is now a toddler but when I was pregnant my ibs cleared up and I was the healthiest is ever been. I was also eating amazing since I was pregnant however lately my ibs has been really bad again mainly because I have to take iron again and iron is the worst thing ever for people with ibs.
When my Ibs gets bad the only way it was managed perfectly were I didn’t have it as an issue was when I did a diet called FODMAP. You should ask your doctor to refer you to dietician and get info on FODMAP diet and it will really help you pretty sure it’s a 98% success rate for those that follow it.
Make sure your not eating too much fibre because that will make you worse- So all carb, cereals, breads, pasta, carbs and stuff

Also slow fermenting food. So there are Manu fruits and vegetables you cannot eat as they trigger you. As they are slow fermenting in the stomach and gut and sit there and cause you to get cramping

Aww Christie, it sounds awful. Trying to manage food is defo tricky esp if its easily aggrivated. Hope u can find what can help u feel kore at ease xx

I’ll show you the FODMAP Stuff. I have very bad ibs so that’s why I was referred to this as no Medicine works so it’s really a food control thing. You have to cut all the FODMAP Foods out, until you have no symptoms, then once symptom free, you introduce one food category and one food from it for free days and if that causes you symptoms you know you cannot eat it. Then you go through this process and eventually certain food groups you might be able to eat them all, or only 3 items from them. etc. However slow fermenting ones will upset you as they are slow fermenting in the digestive tract. I’ll send some photos

Hey! One trick my doctor recommended for IBS was to eat 100 different things(so, variety is key to balancing the system.). (I tried the low carb, no gluten, no dairy ect... diet in the past.) But I also stay away from junk food/fast food and prepackaged foods. I also found for meat, I have to be careful which grocery store I buy it from bc of the additives. If you can go see a gastrologist as they have actual medicine for IBS that regular drs don’t know about.
