Hey Ladies! I had my first cervical check yesterday and it didn't hurt, it was just alot of pressure, but is it normal to be swollen and have some irritation the next day??
This is my first pregnancy so of course I assume nothing is normal since I've never experienced it before!!

I’ve not had any experience of this yet but if you don’t mind me asking, why did you have a cervical exam? I noticed your 36 weeks so just wondering should I expect this at my 36 week appointment x

My ob just informed me that she wanted to do cervical exams on me the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy to see my dilation and effacement. I am currently almost 1 cm dilated and 50% effaced! Of course you can refuse the cervical exams but I just want to keep track of my progression so I just agree to them!

Of course every obgyn or midwife is different so I would check with yours to be sure when they want to start the exams!

I don’t think this is something that gets done as standard in the UK not until around due date at least

I’ve had my 36 week appointment today and was told they won’t examine my cervix until I have a sweep at 40 weeks

I had one on Tuesday and felt abit tender for a day. Mine hurt quite abit though when I had it done
