Hi mummas 💓
I’m new to Brisbane and pregnant with my second baby due end of September. Would love to hear if you have any experience giving birth at Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital? Thank you 🙏

Hey Johanna, I am a midwife and did some training at the Royal and still have friends that work there. It has good facilities but you need to be really informed and educated so you don’t fall victim to the cascade of intervention there. There is such a large amount of women birthing there so as a result, they try to speed up a lot of labour ‘unnecessarily’. Just do lots of external birth and pregnancy education so that you can make informed decisions and say ‘no’ to unwanted intervention if you see necessary x

Hi Johanna! I’ve had my eldest 2 there now aged 13 and 11 years and I’m also due in September with my third.
I’ve given birth through their Pegasus/phoenix teams, the birth centre and now am in the indigenous team.
I personally loved it and would not birth anywhere else. Except I’ve heard the mater is amazing.
I second what Elizabeth has said, the love to push you through as quick as possible. My first was induced but she was 10 days over. From day 1 they were doing sweeps and all this intervention.
My second one came on her due date thankfully and now with my third one of my midwives response to me refusing any induction unless medically necessary was “we will have to see and if you decide against our advice you will have to speak to a specialist and sign a refusal against medical advice form”. Which is wild.
So, I have great experiences there but you will get those midwives everywhere. Again, as Elizabeth said definitely educate yourself so you can make informed decisions ♥️
