Support and advice

Hi All, I was taken into hospital  with pre eclampsia and had to have an emergency  c section at 28 weeks . My little girl is now 3 days old , I would really appreciate  some support  and advice .I am really struggling with it . She currently needs support with her breathing  but they say she is stable. I am still very unwell and on a ward on a different  floor to her and can't see her much. The midwives keep telling me to focus on getting better but it just so hard . I keep crying and I don't really no why , I feel really lonely without her . I feel like I missed out on experiencing the joy of pregnancy and feel I'm grieving my pregnancy.  I know that she is in the best place and there was nothing  I could of done to stop this but I feel like it's all my fault and I'm a bad mum.

Take it easy mum, I had emergency c on the 20th and baby was born at 27 weeks. It’s hard, but please take care of yourself. Baby girl will be okay, God will take care of her 🙏🏾

I'm so sorry firstly it's a big shock and day 3 is also full of hormones, which is why you are incredibly overwhelmed. Your baby is in the best place, the staff and care is amazing and they are the best people to care for her. For now you have to focus on yourself so you can be there for her. There is a lot of processing to do, but for now I would say that's a good place to start! The group premature births is a much betger group for support, I found very useful with around 1300 people there who have had premmie babies. Thinking of you but it's amazing your baby is stable+

Hey I've only just seen this life's been really chaotic!

Your not to blame, my waters broke at 22wks and luckily I held on untill 24wks it was a long tough journey but my son is now 17months old, he's doing amazing!! He did need support breathing untill around his actual due date, honestly these babies that come early are so clever and do amazing things!

As above have mentioned its alot to process, once again your not a bad mum - pregnancy is just something I believe non of us have control over and every pregnancy is different! ❤️❤️

Heart murmur

Took my 4 month old to the GP yesterday for something unrelated and when checking him over they heard a heart murmur. That didn’t say too much and scheduled another GP appointment for next week. Just wondering if any other mummas babies have had one and what their journeys were/if baby just grew out of it. Thank you x

UK Mums: If you had an assigned midwife for your first pregnancy, but not your 2nd. Were you a bit disappointed?

For my first pregnancy I was blessed with having an assigned midwife that I saw every appointment. She was absolutely amazing, so I guess I was spoiled in that sense. This pregnancy, I see a different midwife every appointment and I am a bit disappointed. Before anyone jumps on my back I know it is not guaranteed to have an assigned midwife. It is just hard when each midwife answered my question differently at each appointment and it took the epilepsy clinic (was referred due to having seizures in the last) to give me the actual answer. I also keep getting told that if I have any general questions to contact MAU, but I always thought they were there for urgent matters? Anyways sorry for rambling, I am just a person that feels at ease with consistency 😭

Burnout

I have the odd day (like today) where I feel completely wiped out, without energy, physical especially, even if I had we good night sleep. I try entertaining baby as much as I normally do but it's a lot! Don't know if it's burnout or what.. will mention to gp in case I have some deficiency but again it's not everyday. Baby is only 4 months, am I too old?? And we'd like another at some point 🙈 don't know how mums of multiples do it

First time leaving the house with newborn

Has anybody managed to step outside since the baby arrived? We were considering starting super local, 10 min by car to somewhere where we can go on a pram walk or cafe. But we were wondering if this is safe, given the baby has no vaccines yet. What’s everyone doing?

36 weeks and baby is breech

Got another scan booked for Wednesday but if baby doesn't turn I have 3 options ... What would you go for?

I'm really torn on what to do :(/

Reduced movements

Baby hadn’t moved for about 2 hours (that I can be sure of) but has now got hiccups and moving slightly again. Should I still go to triage or is that enough for things to be ok?
