Hi all
A lot of what I’m reading suggests baby should be a bit conversational by now - taking turns to to ‘talk’ etc. He’s very VOCAL but I wouldn’t say thinks about back and forth. He’s also not really babbling. Happy shrieks, grunts and coos but he hasn’t really got his head around consonants yet.
He’s just over 6 months. Is anyone having similar experiences?
Thanks!

Not babbling here either. Exactly like your little one, she shrieks and is very high pitched but no real sounds yet

Do you find that you’re talking back and forth though?

My sons almost 8 months and doesn’t even say anything 😂 trying ‘da da’ and ‘ma ma’ but nothing, he makes sounds and shouts ‘AH’ if you do it too but he’s pretty quiet mostly, don’t worry, it will happen some babies don’t even learn words until 8-12 months some just start earlier and that’s ok, all babies develop different and it doesn’t mean your doing anything wrong, your doing it all right! I can understand seeing some posts can make you feel disheartened as I feel that too, but I don’t mind waiting ! Xx

Totally normal for his age x

My boy just shouts and screams and say oooo. But he’s aware when me and his dad have a conversation because he looks at me the his dad then back at me waiting for me to talk. I think it’s still early anyway for any sort of speech at all. Just keep talking to baby and singing and sure enough they will start

I think the idea that baby should be babbling consonants by this age just isn’t true! There was a poll on here and only a really small number of babies were making dada or mama noises yet, when you Google it, it says most babies do at 4 months!

Thanks everyone!

When I speak to him he just looks confused. He's more interested in grabbing anything in his reach 🤣
