Hi so I don't really like to admit this but I have seriously bad anxiety about leaving the house with baby on my own. It dosent help that I can't drive and we live right by a main road and can't get anywhere about going onto said main road. There's always accidents around where we live so I'm too scared to go out with her just incase. I think since she's been born we've left the house maybe 4 times on my own with her and she's 9 months now. It can't carry on really I can't even take her to the doctors by myself... does anyone have any tips at all? Or anyone in a simular situation??

Please seek help for this anxiety. Speak to your gp to discuss your options, talking therapy (can be done by video link etc), antidepressants etc. the more you keep closing yourself off the harder it’s going to be getting out of it so you need some support to help with your thinking.
You’re never going to eliminate threats, it’s part of life but how you respond is within your control.
Im currently actively doing CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to help with my health anxiety so I’m speaking from experience. You can force yourself out but you’ll be in fight or flight the entire time and won’t enjoy yourself.
Maybe start to write down specific thoughts you’re having, how they feel and how you cope for when you speak to your gp.
My inbox is always open x
@Mel thank you so much ! It's only come about since we moved out really, as for the first 6 months of having her we were living with my parents , it's horrendous to live with but I'll be calling my GP tomorrow , I was so scared they'd think I was a bad mum x

Oh my goodness, no they won’t. It’s so easy to worry what others will say about it but they will want to help you. 100%. They won’t make you feel guilty etc. I can’t recommend CBT enough, it will help you. You’ve been triggered in some way to create these negative connections in your brain that stop you doing it.
You are not a bad mum, you are everything your baby needs regardless of going outside. Everyone will suffer with mental health in one way or another. Everybody worries but when it starts to interfere with daily life that’s when you need to seek the help to get yourself some coping strategies and to safely challenge your thoughts x

I did CBT to help with my anxiety of leaving the house alone, and it really helped. I really recommend speaking to your GP or even doing a self referral through the NHS website 😊
