Hello everyone!
I just wanted to share my story a little and maybe it helps some of you mamas out!
For about 3-6 weeks I’ve been dealing with leg pain at night. To the point where I’m almost crying! The irritability I have had in my legs was/ is extremely miserable! None stop kicking to “mask” the irritating feeling.,, On top of that I had ringing and popping in my ears and extremely fatigued….. Turns out I needed an iron infusion! Normal blood count is 11-307ng and mine was at 4. If you’re experiencing any of the above 👆🏼 please call and maybe schedule a time to get some labs done to check your iron levels!
I hope this helps someone!
My iron infusion is today at 11:00am- I just know I’ll feel better 😭

We’re those your hemoglobin levels or iron/ferritin levels?
4 is pretty low! I would think they would admit you and give you blood transfusions at that level! (Usually at 5-7 they suggest blood transfusions)
Maybe double check with your hemotologist to make sure nothing further is needed outside of the infusions! Esp since we’re so close to labor and delivery! 💕

A 4???? Yeah my hemoglobin was a 4.7 and I was admitted for 4 units of blood, oxygen, and 17 infusions. If it's that low you and baby are at life threatening risk and definitely need more than just an infusion!

Considering she said normal is 11-307, she's referring to her ferritin levels - not hemoglobin. I started an iron supplement as well, my ferritin was 10 and iron was 10.9

ferritin levels!

it was my ferritin levels!

yes ferritin! Because I’m so close to delivery and I take my prenatals with added iron AND an iron supplement alongside.. they decided an infusion was best?? Either way I hope it makes me feel better ❤️🩹

the iron infusions will help greatly!
The only side effects I get so I get super tired afterwards but that usually wears off after a day or two
Sometimes I get sore muscles too, a nice Epsom salt bath helps that!
And I just try to stay super hydrated! :)

thank you!
Luckily I can just go home and sleep and don’t have to go back into work 😊
Thank you for the tips, it’s much appreciated ✨

How do I know my ferritin levels? I just know that my hemoglobin is 12.6 and I have also experienced the things you mentioned. I haven’t done anything but massaging my legs and my ear. After a week, my ear stopped popping ( there was no pain) and my leg hurts when I am standing up and lying down in my left side for too long.

call your Ob/ Doctor and describe your symptoms and request labs for your ferritin count!! ❤️🩹

Update: Infusion went swimmingly and I feel better already! If anyone is scared or has any questions I’d be glad to calm your nerves with my experience 💚
