I’m really struggling with my babies poop. Every time he goes there’s always something not right about it. Always got mucus, which I understand can happen in breastfed babies also he drools a lot so also that can count towards it. But he has the occasional poop with black specks in it, always super watery and it really smells. The doctors are bullshit and won’t test him for milk allergy or even just infection or anything but it’s not normal I swear. Please can someone tell me they’re have the same with their breastfed baby.
Every poopy nappy has mucus, always watery, sometimes black specks ( I don’t have cracked or bleeding nipples), thick flesh coloured mucus and foul smelling?
My boy is 17 weeks old
I’m going to call health visitor and demand someone check my baby because I can’t keep having anxiety about it and I worry there’s something wrong with his digestive system that no one seems to want to check!!

I would contact 111 and explain. See if they can get you to see an out of hours tonight or another GP. Always trust your instinct. Xx

We’ve had nappies like this and it’s just because he’s salivating and swallowing it. Before drooling, did you experience this?
They don’t test for CMPA. It’s trial and error, they’ll just suggest no dairy or a hydrolysed cows milk formula. You’d expect other CMPA symptoms also.
You can message ‘themilkrebel’ on Instagram, IBCLC and ‘poo guru’ with a photo.

yeah I went on a dairy free diet for 12 weeks and he was still having the same problems… :/ I know they don’t test for the allergy but they can test the stool for other things. Doctor told me that

they referred me to a paediatrician and they said they can’t help as it’s not enough to go off of … just advised what I’ve already been doing!! :/

just spoken with health visitor they’re calling me back x

My BF baby has mucus poos, I asked my HV about it and she said it looks normal? 🥴 I was also concerned as they’ve lasted a long time but she is drooling a lot too so I thought it was that. Would make lots of sense if she has an allergy though as she’s generally an unsettled baby. I too felt quite dismissed when I’ve brought it up though 😣

yeah I know exactly how you feel. It’s such a hard thing knowing what to do. My problem is, yeah fine it could be normal… but what if it isn’t? I’d never forgive myself if I didn’t get it properly checked then it turned out he’s got an infection or something wrong. Maybe I’m overthinking it but I just need proper answer x
