Soo.. a little bit of a long story (sorry girls!)
Yesterday we decided to take a lovely family trip to the beach (2.5 hour drive) but our car decided that an hour in it didnāt want to go to the beach and broke down in the middle of no where, we were stranded in a tiny lay-by from 10.30am-4pm until the RAC was able to come out to us, which resulted in this man wanting me to just sit my 3.5 year old in his front seat with only a seatbelt to get us home (he didnāt have isofix for her car seat) which I rejected VERY quickly!! How irresponsible of me as a mother to do that!
So he suggested we drive the car which had the most smallest amount of power to the closest village which was 5 mins away. We were there for 2 hours, no food as everywhere was shut, no shops or anything. We were all surviving on the drinks and snacks I packed for our daughterš finally the tow truck came to collect the car at gone 6pm, the RAC had arranged a taxi (with isofix) to come and collect us, finally he came and we arrived back home gone 8pm. We quickly gave our daughter & ourselves some nutritious food and she didnāt end up going to bed until around 9.30pm. (Her usually bedtime is 7/7.30pm)
Am I being selfish for keeping her off preschool today? Iām absolutely shattered and drained and so is her dad, Iām thinking maybe she feels the same way?

Seeks reasonable and Iām sure you know your daughter best. Although⦠you might have gotten more rest if you sent her š

I know! But I have to leave in 30 mins to even walk her there for 9am and she hasnāt even had breakfast yetš I think maybe itās laziness on my behalf this morning lol. She would be home by 1.30pm anyway as she only does 4 hours.

thanks darling x

yes 31 weeks & 2 days!! Itās was exhausting. Was sooo hot too and so uncomfortable all day! Was soo glad to get into my bed last night lol

Oh my goodness, you all need a rest day!! Stay home, stay hydrated, stay cool. Lots of rest and cuddles.

Speaking as a pre-school practitioner myself, given the circumstances of the long day you had yesterday. We'd probably appreciate it more you keeping her off if she was tired due to the fact that nursery is quite stimulating and if they're tired can find it quite overwhelming. The best place to be is resting at homeāŗļøxx

yeah i was an early years practitioner too (room leader) so I think I went into work mode and though it would be the best option, although being heavily pregnant Iād love to just lay in bed. But the last thing I was is for her either to be overly emotional or her behaviour being horrendous at preschool.
I called them when they opened at 9am and they were very grateful for my decision xx

Absolutely! Sheās your child, you never have to take her in if it doesnāt suit you both. Your day sounds brutal - I hope you get some rest. And well done for advocating for your family about the car seat thing āš»

my partner hasnāt even gone to work today (mainly because he doesnāt have a car now) but heās shattered so she must be too!
Absolutely! If she was maybe 5/6 years old then I maybe would have said yes to just a seat belt, but sheās 3.5, the seatbelt would have cut her neck off. He got a bit shitty at me about it but I wouldnāt be a good parent if I allowed it x

absolutely - itās just never worth the risk with the maniacs out there on the road!
