Milk

LO is breastfed at night and in nursery during the day. Never taken a bottle and won't drink milk no matter what cup I try so just has water and meals during the day... not sure what to do?! LO is so petite as well and needs the extra calories!

Just water and milk during the day and breastmilk when you're together should be fine tbh! That's what we're doing and my little girl is also quite petite. There's nothing inherently wrong in being small/petite unless she's dropping centiles in which case I'd get a referral to a pediatric dietician! X

@Paulina thank you. She is in fact dropping on the centiles, practically off the chart, so I'm waiting to see the paediatrician later this month as I'm not sure what's going wrong 😥

So practical things you can do, is making sure to put extra calories in the meals she's eating at home (and potentially talk to nursery about it as well!) - lots of coconut milk/cream/oil, full fat Greek yogurt (avoid flavoured yoghurts which tend to have very little fat and lots of sugar), avocado, basically anything that's rich in healthy fats, as well as stuff like sweet potatoes, lentils etc which are also quite nutritionally dense. Milk is awesome but it's not quite as calorific!

In terms of what's going wrong... Hmm mine dropped a line when she started walking - could it have been something to do with your little one moving more as well?
Do you know what exactly she's eating at nursery? Some of them have appallingly poor menus which isn't ok given how much we have to pay!

Hope your little one gets back on track :) xx

@Paulina thanks so much. She's on a high calorie diet yet still losing. The nursery is even adding a high calorie oil specifically for cooking her meals and trying to give her high calorie foods where they can. She's not walking yet but she's moving about loads and I don't think she's eating more calories to make up for it. Every day I'm asking about portion sizes and she does eat less than the others because she eats much slower but they feel she eats enough for them to not worry about her food intake!

She used to LOVE avocados and sweet potato when we started weaning and now she just outright refuses to have either.. so frustrating! She eats a few bites of food and is done. Then wants something else. I'm so envious when I see all the babies eating lots more 😭

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
