Cot

Just wondered if any other June babies are still in their cot or have you all transitioned to a toddler bed 😅
My little boy still loves his cot and still only sleeps with a sleeping bag - we haven’t introduced pillows or quilt yet 🤦🏼‍♀️ Is anyone else the same? Or just me 😂

My boy is in a toddler bed and has been since 14 months as he managed to climb out x

My girl is the same :). Cot and sleeping bag x

My girl is in a single bed but still insists on sleeping on the floor.

I will keep my July 2021 baby in her cot until she figures how to climb out(hopefully not soon😂) I think it’ll be so difficult in a toddler bed as she will be out as soon as we leave her room. So I am not ready for it! and yes she also loves her sleep suit 😘 again until she is in a toddler bed, i won’t introduce a o pillow x

Avatar

yeah I think I might struggle finding sleeping bags soon to fit him 😂

Avatar

My sons never tried to climb out luckily that’s probably the only reason why he’s still in the cot 🤣 xx

Avatar

Will probably introduce a duvet once the sleeping bags don’t fit him anymore 😅 but he has never tried to climb out the cot so don’t see why we’d need to transition yet plus I’m worried about him just getting up and wondering around his bedroom if he’s in a bed 😅 xxx

Avatar

Exactly this! I’m worried he’ll be wondering around his room if he’s in a bed and I won’t be able to sleep 🤦🏼‍♀️ whereas he just goes straight to sleep in his cot and stays there 😂 xx

Mine is in a toddler bed but that was due to us having another baby

Avatar

yes I’m like, if it’s not broke don’t fix it lol! As soon as she can climb out is when we’ll have to swap! She can get out of the cot at her grandparents but luckily ours is bigger ha x

Avatar

Was that so you could use the cot for new baby? We had another baby 3 months ago too 🥰

Avatar

we wanted our 2 year old out of the nursery and into his own room before the baby arrived so he didn’t feel like he was getting moved because of the baby so we moved him in June and the baby came 31st July but obviously is still in with us at the minute but our little boy knows the nursery is the baby’s room. It worked really well for us doing it that way and he sleeps better in a toddler bed.

Avatar

My oldest didn't go into a bed until he was 3.5 and was in a sleeping bag until then. We went with if it's not broken don't fix it. He never tried to climb out in fact he only tried to climb in 😂. We probably would have transitioned a bit earlier but we were moving house. I read that the later you leave it the smoother it'll go as they'll more likely understand staying in the bed. My son transitioned really well. He still doesn't come out his room until morning if he wakes in the night he asks us to go in

Avatar

that’s really good! I’ll be doing the same - the longer in the cot the better! Xx

Avatar

Toddler bed for ages now 🤷🏼‍♀️ he loves it and seemed to help us a lot with sleep

Avatar

@telina what I would say is every child is different though. My youngest will be going into a floor bed soon. As whenever he's sick or has a reaction (he has multiple food allergies) he'll only sleep on me. We're just waiting until we get back from our holiday in October as the stairs there are really steep and wind so it wouldn't be safe for him to do them on his own

Avatar

My daughter is still in her cot. Loads of room still and hasn’t even entertained the idea of climbing out yet so I think I’m going to try and leave her in it as long as possible 🤣 xx

Avatar

My lg is in a single bed but she still sleeps in sleeping bag although it has legs x

Avatar

My daughter is still in her cot but had a pillow&sleeping quilt, she hasn’t climbed out yet which we can’t believe as she’s such a big climber everywhere else but im in no rush to transition as she shares with our 1 year old and guarantee she won’t leave him alone 😂

Avatar

Mines still in the cot cos he fidgets all night and still has plenty of room. You can get sleeping bags with feet that fit toddlers.. I bought some on amazon when he was younger, just bought 2 new ones as his are getting a bit tight now but he's worn them for a gold 15 months x

Avatar

yes 🙌🏻 he’s not interested in climbing out haha if he wants me he’ll just shout me or daddy xx

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

I think Motherhood has made me more bitter than I realized…

This is such a ramble but I don’t know where else to put it all.

I’m four months in and I don’t really have hobbies right now. I don’t do anything for myself except maybe doomscrolling or listening to a podcast while I breastfeed my baby. I used to craft and have game nights with friends. Activities that usually are at least 2 hour stretches. Now if I have an hour free my mind immediately goes to baby, or doing something in the house for baby.

And I thought I didn’t mind. Like I knew postpartum could be very mentally consuming. But I think it’s altering how I view people around me and it’s prodding at my relationship with my husband.

He spends most of his time making food for us, looking after our dogs, playing with the baby, ect. But he still has time for his hobby. Spends maybe an hour a night on it. Even adapted to using a bot for shopping for his hobby after a certain incident where we had to have a heart to heart after he left me home alone with the baby for hours during a busy workday (I work from home) to shop for his hobby.

And yet there’s like this little green eyed monster in me that rages every time I know he’s running off to start up the bot. Even though I’m the reason he does it this way.

We took a family trip last weekend to see his best friend and their kids and let them meet the baby. He brought the laptop. He’s always brought a laptop on trips and it’s never been a problem to me before. But one night we both woke up while the baby was still asleep, and he wandered out of the room. I tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. So I went to the kitchen to try having something warm to drink to settle me. And he was there at the table running the bot from his laptop. I flipped out at him. But there really wasn’t reason to. It’s not like I needed help with the baby and he was ignoring me. He wasn’t avoiding our friends. He was just awake and unable to sleep and found something to do with his time. Yet my snap reaction was “why the hell would you do this on a family trip?”

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the less complete sleep from baby’s middle of the night feed? My brain being just consumed by baby? Maybe I’m not as over that shopping incident as I thought? But I’m just so annoyed at his hobby right now. The green eyed monster thinks “you could be using that time differently” but realistically to do what exactly??? Stare at our baby in the dark???

I spent probably an hour apologizing to him after I snapped. And he’s of course hurt and frustrated because I said some very mean things in the moment.

I don’t want to be this jealous, angry person. But I also don’t know how to find time for myself in this right now outside of basic hygiene. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to be myself, even if just for an hour.

Maybe I need a therapist.
