Colostrum harvesting

Anyone else only getting tiny amounts? I am on day 3 of hand expressing it and only seem to get tiny beads. Think I've only collected 0.2ml overall! Anyone else found this?

Hi, I also live in Farnborough ☁️ I had this now basically nothing I’m 38 weeks and hand expresse literally tiny drops which equates to nothing in the syringe. I had absolutely nothing with my son who I managed to breastfeed so don’t stress 🤍

That's great to hear thank you for sharing that! It was starting to worry me that breastfeeding might be a challenge! Thank you :) x

I got nothing at all 😔 which made me stress so I stopped trying for now.

It took me quite a while to get about a ml per boob in a session - never got more than that even after i’d been expressing for weeks (baby was very late!). Be patient - and I found that having the mindset that any amount is a good amount helped - relaxing into it is key!

Thank you!! These posts are making me feel better, will defo keep a positive mindset :)

It’s absolutely nothing to do with your ability to breastfeed, your liquid gold is started by the placenta leaving your body!

I didn’t bother but breastfeed perfectly fine. I would highly recommend Lucy Webber’s breastfeeding book & following her & Olivia Hinge on socials. Great free information!

I’ve only gotten about 2mL so far but I will say there is definitely a technique to it. I’d watch some YouTube videos and see if you can find some tricks. Even if you don’t collect any or much I think it’s good practice so you understand your own anatomy and it could help progress breastfeeding more easily too just to practice. I wouldn’t be hard on yourself if you can’t get much sounds pretty normal.

I had not expressed nor collected any colostrum when my baby came two weeks early, but when she latched on within an hour of being born, my body knew what to do and did it. You’re great, mama ♡

I was collecting colostrum and found myself getting very frustrated at the beginning, I gave myself a day or two before trying again and rewatched some yt videos. Making sure you massage first and that you are relaxed, sometimes a warm compress can help. Maybe after having a bath or shower you can try. Once I was more relaxed I was able to collect around 1ml after attempting 2-3 times through out the day

Try harvesting after a warm shower and make sure you’ve been massaging your bust throughout. Let the shower massage them too to stimulate the glands. X

I’ve literally just tried again and morning is coming out so I give up. I’m probably not gonna try again x

did you watch any YouTube videos?? It’s seriously helpful. Also you can’t really just squeeze it out you more so have to compress your breast in a very specific place. Also you need to be very well hydrated and relaxed, feeling frustrated might make it more difficult. Best of luck if you do try again and if not it’s probably no big deal.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Struggling in the 4 month regression

How are people getting out of the 4 month regression? I’ve been looking it up and it says I need to be trying to put him down drowsy but awake but this does not work for my LO. Every time we do this he ends up being wide awake and after almost an hour of trying we have to contact nap/rock to sleep. I want to avoid rocking to sleep because now when he wakes up in the night he needs to be rocked back to sleep which he never used to need.

Nights are constantly broken because we are up 2-3 times to rock him back to sleep. Please give me your tips on how to survive this and how to get out of this!! Constantly feel like I’m failing and doing something wrong
