So little man is 17 days old, yesterday I found out I need to have my gallbladder removed. I’m awaiting an appointment for the surgery, the surgery should be within the next week or so the doctor advised. I’m EBF but I’m worried what I’m going to do on surgery day. I’ve been advised to pump but I didn’t want to do that before 6 weeks as it’s not recommended. I also have flat nipples so I really don’t want him to prefer a bottle over me. Someone else told me he’s more likely to refuse a bottle, in that case what would I do?

My little one is 10 days and had all sorts of feeds because of hospital stays - feeding tube, formula by bottle, EBM by bottle and breastfeeding. We had breastfeeding interrupted for a few days by having to measure feeds in the tube or by bottle and he’s happily latched straight back onto the breast! It’s a myth that introducing a bottle causes confusion and you have to look after your own health! I’m using Mam bottles with slow flow teats, I think he has to work a bit harder to get the milk so that doesn’t make him lazy when he goes back to the breast. Also had no issues with pumping so early, it’s helped me establish my milk supply when baby couldn’t breastfeed.

Sorry not related to breastfeedin but Aw your baby must have the same birthday as mine!!🥰🥰 my boys also 17 days old🩵

20th August? Birthday twins 🩵🩵🩵🩵

If you have to bottle feed until you can EBF again, then read up on pace feeding as that will help a lot. God luck in the surgery xx
