When baby skips his second nap he still refuses to go to sleep until around his bedtime. He’s finally gone to sleep tonight having been awake nearly 8 hours! He’s teething which doesn’t help but surely they wouldn’t cause this?! He doesn’t seem in pain when I stop trying to get him to sleep. For every nap and bedtime I do everything in my power - feed, co-sleep, sing, rock. Everything. We have white noise, a projector, a fan, stories, calpol, teething gel…
Tried one nap for a week last week but it was the same, him being awake for too long, getting overtired and refusing to go to sleep until 9pm having been up since 7am!

Do I go back to trying one nap or do something with two naps?

My son wakes up between 6 and half 6 then has a morning sleep about 9.30/10 for sometimes half hour to an hour then most of the time doesnt sleep in the afternoon but we always go up to bed at 8pm sometimes he will fall asleep before 8 but i always let him do his thing. If he wants to sleep he will sleep if not ill keep him awake x

He sleeps though the night x
Thanks Leane. It is very useful to hear about other babies who happily have longer wake windows after their nap. There’s so much info about them getting over tired that I worry. He seemed tired but wasn’t yawning when I tried for his second nap so maybe I just need to wait for those yawns!

I always wait for ques like my son smacks his head and starts pulling his ears when he is tried and blinks quite alot when he is over tired. X
