I tried my little one with a mango purée yesterday and she had a red cheek afterwards, then today she had a bit more and all her face around mouth and nose, and neck went really red (where the mango had touched the skin). I’ve had a google and it seems to be because mango is slightly acidic. Has anyone else experienced this? I’m a bit nervous to try her with actual acidic fruit now.
Do you think it’s just sensitive skin, or could it be an allergy?

Firstly, I would always raise concerns over possible food allergies with your GP. They can refer your little one for testing to check.
This sounds like either skin sensitivity or something called oral allergy syndrome. My son has this and we were advised to apply a barrier cream to his face before eating the foods he was sensitive to to avoid a reaction. 3 years on he doesn't seem to react as badly as before. If it is this it is rarely something of concern 😊

I found with my first anything acidic touching his face and mouth caused a rash for about an hour like it burned. I first noticed it with ketchup when he was nearly 2. Then it just stopped happening
I think that’s what it is because it did go after an hour! She seemed okay in herself! X
