Hot weather☀️

How is everyone coping in this hot weather? I’m nearly 22 weeks pregnant and ended up getting sent home from work due to not feeling 100% from this heat.

I’ve been trying to stay hydrated as much as possible with drinking ice cold water and having cool showers. I’m a bit worried though as I’ve not felt baby moving much today🙁

I haven’t been coping. I constantly feel weak like I’m going to pass out and struggling to cool down 😭

Same as you!!! Hard to come standing all day and feel baby move way less than before or hardly ever. I’m nearly 23 weeks

Think I’m going to give it a few hours and try to cool down. Have a cold fizzy drink and if I don’t feel the baby move I’ll be going to maternity triage to be on the safe side and check the baby

you can call them too and see what they say

Avatar

Yeah I will be. I just want to see if she’ll move on her own first before I ring as I always feel like I’m bugging them

My midwife recommended a cold wet towel around my neck and I’ve also wrapped a wet towel around my feet. I’ve also found cooling gel insert pillows from Amazon have helped at night x

you shouldn’t feel like your bugging them doll, it’s better to be on the safe side x

I came over all dizzy earlier. Sat down to eat my lunch and couldn't finish it had to go and be sick. This heat is hideous.

I’ve just had a coolish shower and an ice cold drink. Hoping that works

I luckily work from home but I had to go lay down this morning because I was struggling! ..Still don't feel 100% now

It's supposed to be getting cooler again next week, thank god!

Honestly hoping so as I’m back at uni but I also work full time with babies in a nursery which doing in this weather is unbearable🥲

I feel you, I'm a healthcare assistant in the community and I fished at 2pm and I've been sick due to the heat, can't go in this afternoon. Had a cool shower and now on the sofa with a fan on the go, it's awful 😖

I feel weak all the time, am not coping at all. Yesterday was like hell, I was naked throughout the day. Today again am struggling not to pass out 😔😔

Last year I was further along than I am now during the heatwave and I got told to have ie icecream and or ice, to kinda 'shock' the baby into moving 😂 obviously it's safe etc , did work. I'm barely coping now at 20 weeks and running after a 10 month old 😭 😂

Avatar

I’ve had multiple cold drinks today, as well as fizzy drinks plus ice cream and still no movements. I think am going to have to call maternity triage🙁 I’m prepared for the worst x

Avatar

have you tried stick sweet, it helps too

Avatar

I’ve been to triage and baby is fine just very stubborn. And no what are they?

Avatar

am happy to hear that, thank God 😊

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
