Hi, I am about to deliver in a month and have been advised by couple of folks around me to start using nipple shield as soon as I start feeding. Also, looks like it helps with latching. If anyone uses/used it already or even doesn’t use ,could you please share your reason why and how it is useful or not?
Based on your responses,I could think about ordering one. Thanks a lot for reading my post. Take care mommas ❤️

I had to use it with my 2nd son because he wouldn’t latch due to my flat nipple, the nipple shield just allows the baby to pull on a longer nipple, it’s like a suction for smaller nipples IMO. It helped him until he was able to located my nipple on his own after it started to grow a lil

Our lactation consultant said that we shouldn’t be using a nipple shield unless there is a reason, such as inverted nipples. If your nipples are fine, there is no reason to use a nipple shield - it can just lead to confusion for the little one to the point where it won’t take your nipple without the nipple shield

If you plan to BF get silverettes.
They’re like nipple armor you wear that keep them from chapping and cracking. A nipple shield can be used to help with these things once they happen, but for me, silverettes from
the get go we’re a lifesaver.
