Is anyone having trouble falling back asleep after baby wakes up at night? After baby boy is back down I can’t sleep and will be up from his 1am feeding until 5am feeding. Does anyone else have this problem? What should I do?

Yes, I used to have the same problem.
I would try to focus on my breathing as I found if I focused on trying to sleep it would make it worse.
If that didn’t work I’d read until I fell asleep. It was the most frustrating thing!

Yes exact same issue here. Best thing for me is realising it’s just a phase, not getting anxious about it and realising that even on no or little sleep I can have a lovely day. Our bodies can adapt amazingly and it’s often the fear of not sleeping or worry about being tired that causes issue. Also just having quiet time, closing my eyes is rest in itself and restorative even if I’m not sleeping. It will pass xx

I had exactly the same problem and it was made worse by me trying to get as much sleep as possible and going to bed with him at 8pm. So when I woke at midnight, I had already had 4 hours sleep and then couldn’t go back. I started going to bed later so I was tired enough to go back to sleep. However, it also spiralled for me and became wrapped up in a lot of anxiety and so I sought help for this through the perinatal mental health team.
If you get to the point where sleep or thinking about sleep or not sleeping is becoming all consuming. I really would seek support from your GP. You are not alone in this, I felt like I was but there’s so many of us! Sending empathy and hugs.

I have the same issue although I don’t tend to lie awake quite that long! What often works for me is to count to 4 while counting in and then go 6 while breathing out. Alternatively, I try to remember the story of a book I read or a film I saw and go through it in my mind from beginning to end. Often I don’t get to the end! Good luck 😴

Don’t turn on your phone and just turn on a dim nightlight.
