If you have a toddler who falls asleep independently would you please share routine? Trying to make transition from rocking/cuddling to sleep & he just ends up hysterical even if we are sitting beside his cot 🥲

Ours is dinner, bath/shower, story, cuddle and a song or two. I give him some horlicks with honey in it as his bedtime treat and that seems to settle him. He has it while I read to him

he’ll be two in October. Thank you for the tips x

I don’t have much of a routine but something like this:
Milk around 7.30-8 in the living room then up to her bedroom to change nappy, brush teeth and a few short books. Then we have quick cuddles with dad too and say night night and leave her to it in her cot. We do still use a dummy though. No idea when/how to lose that 🙈

Similar to others.
Bath (every other night)
Teeth
Stories (we do 3 🤣)
Song.
Leave the room. Sometimes he’s still drinking his milk so I just let him
We were able to do the transition from rocking/cuddling. By reducing the amount of time each night. Eventually he’d go down with no rocking and just lying still in my arms.
This helped us when going to transition to the cot and to sleep independently. But we did sleep train, but it only took one night of 40 mins and he was fine after and I think the transitioning helped
