Aptimal what’s the difference?

Bit of a random question but when out and about shopping today and buying baby milk I noticed they had stage one and two which they also had when I had my oldest 6 years ago but I didn’t think it was from 6 months to 12 months I thought it was 12 plus months so what has changed ? As I swear I used the infant milk all way till she was 12 months so why now stage two from 6 to 12 as I say what’s difference does it make much if was to use infant all way till 12 months again? Thank you

I got told by the HV that apparently they can't put first formula on offer because it discourages breastfeeding, and you never really have to change from the first one if you don't want to. Basically she said its almost identical but they are allowed to put the second one on offer so it ends up being cheaper. Not sure how true that is but that's what I was told

So 1st stage can not be promoted or advertised so they created a stage 2 6-12months to take advantage of the loop hole in advertising. It has slightly different ingredients but babies can have stage 1 until 12 months x x

Avatar

Yeah fair enough I had heard they not allowed to advertise it so I suppose that makes sense so they advertise put it down to 6 months to 12 so can advertise and make it more in line with weaning I suppose

Avatar

yes so it has slightly less iron I think ( to coincide with weaning) and that means they can advertise it 😭. Nutritionally there is no reason to go to stage 2. If your eligible for the healthy start card/milk vouchers) it's only valid on stage 1 milk xx

Avatar

exactly this! And stage 2 is a marketing ploy. Absolutely no need for it.
A HV claimed to me recently that they had training with a nutritionist and that they had said the stage 2 actually has more nutrients a baby at that ages needs.
I laughed and said utter rubbish, at some point after 12 months you start transitioning to cows milk or an alternative if allergies. No need for it at all xxx

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
