So my baby is mixed bottle fed and last night in my tired state I stupidly picked up the bottle with pre-boiled water for formula instead of breastmilk 🤦♀️
My baby drank 60ml before I noticed
The guilt is so real rn and I'm wondering if anyone else's baby has started having water yet and been okay? I haven't noticed any changes and this was about 5 hours ago....

How olds your baby? My GP and lactation consultant said it was fine for them to have a little bit of water, in fact it’s good to introduce a little bit here and there to get them used to it.
If it’s pre boiled it’s fine! It’s not different to mixing it with formula x don’t stress x
she's 4.5months
Okay that has me a little less panicked!

I'm assuming baby will be getting close to the 6m / starting solids age - it is always recommended to introduce water alongside solids and I typically started with 60ml although not always fully drunk. Baby will most likely just have runnier poos and want to feed sooner as it did not contain the formula - but otherwise all should be fine. Trust me we have all likely done something similar.

Once off should be fine, but I would check with your doctor/chn. And would recommend not giving anymore until 6 months.
The recommendation is 6 months and with food. As of 2021 the recommendations for starting solids is after 6 months if they are showing all signs of readiness (some babies don't show these until 7-9 months)

Hey lovely, how is bub?
Don't feel guilty. Accidents happen!
But in the future, I highly recommend you call the nurse line - it's free. You should have been notified of the number when you were given the health book for your baby.
In reality, water intoxication is quite serious in babies, and while I'm sure the previous commenters meant well, I think it is actually something you should be checking with a medical professional and not brushing off. It might be no big deal (I have no idea!), but it's 100% of the time worth checking with a nurse anyway ❤️

Hey love just breath, our paediatrician got us giving bub 90mls of water per day to fix constipation at 2 months old. We did it for like a week. Till the new formula passed through. She is healthy as.
Bub will be fine love
