Hot weather, less movement?

Just wondered with the hot weather if anyone has noticed a change in movement? Baby boy hasn’t moved much tonight whereas usually he’s dancing on my bladder

Thank goodness it's not only me. I'm a FTM and so I'm not sure what's 'normal', I can feel him if I bug him to the point of moving which gives me a little reassurance 😂

Now I think about it my baby hasn't moved much tonight either! Could definitely be the heat

Avatar

I’ve been thinking about this all day , I’ve had less movements and wondered if it was anything to do with the heat

The day before yesterday my baby girl hardly moved when compared to other days however last night and today she's been kicking loads again :) I'm also a FTM and the change in movements was stressing me out but all is well :)

Avatar

I am the same here thought it might be to do with the heat but thought if I don't feel much tomorrow I might call up and fine out of them if it's normal in hot weather

Avatar

I was exactly the same earlier and it was making me so anxious, but once I tried to cool down, went inside and layed in a better position he was moving around as normal. I was wondering the same thing, looked it up on Google but didn’t tell me too much x

Yes! I went up to my day clinic with change in movement Thursday and they explained that if we're hot baby will be warm too, hence not wanting to move much. Definitely call to check for peace of mind though, mine were really reassuring hearing heart beat but mind at ease!

Avatar

Yes drink lots I spent all of last night awake which was horrid but I did realise he moves all night. Seems more active at night x

Avatar

Yeah he’s hardly moved in a few days, but I’m so warm, I’m not surprised. Hoping today, which is supposed to be cooler, will bring him out a little.

So glad I've seen this post! Still felt them moving but it's definitely been a lot less noticeable than usual the last few days while it's been so hot. Having to really concentrate to feel! I've an anterior placenta too, so that doesn't help😫😫

Avatar

This post has really put my mind at ease! I’ve thought the same about our bub the last two days, moving about but not booting me half as much. Being a FTM can be so nerve wracking 😫

Avatar

Same here. I have an anterior placenta so I barely feel movements anyway but it was getting better until this heatwave. I can't help but worry constantly x

Thanks all for replying. I went in an got checked in the end. We were there for 6 hours so pretty sleepy today! Am glad we did. Am going for a scan this week because it’s the second time and they just want to be extra safe but the nurse said she had received a lot of calls and completely checks last night!

Avatar

I’m so glad you’ve posted this I was getting a bit worried! I have an anterior placenta but she still kicks me a lot throughout the day but the last couple of days it’s really not been as frequent and just been in the evening times! I never knew there could be a correlation between movement and heat

Avatar

I thought it was just me! I'm a first time mum and didn't want to be that anxious mum! When I cooled down a bit last night she moved a bit more so think it's heat related she isn't booting me like earlier in the week though 🤔 x

Avatar

Omg thank you for this! I’ve been upset because baby was awol last night - they’re always going mental as soon as I get into bed a lay down but there was nothing at all 😥 have felt a bit today luckily x

Avatar

same. Even though it's cooler today the movements are still not as strong

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Bedtime

What time are you getting your LOs down for the night now and how are you finding bedtime? We’ve had the sane routine since my daughter was a few weeks old - bath with her older sister and 6.45, followed by a bottle and ideally in bed by 7.30. This worked at first but over the last few weeks she’s been fighting it a lot and, with the exception of a few days last week which were a lot easier, it’s a bit of a battle to get her down and features a lot of screaming and resettling. Not sure if we are putting her down too early or late? Her last nap is usually a cat nap (30-45 mins) and finishes by 6. She’s pretty good at settling herself from a night feed, but seems to be unable to do it at bedtime, even with her dummy.
