BLW

Hey mommies,

In need of some direction.

I can’t remember weaning with my first child! Little one is nearly 6 months old and want to start BLW.

At present her feeds are all over the place there’s no schedule she’s pretty much demand feeding what she wants when she wants. How and where do I even start?!. Milk first then food. Ideally my aim is to have her eating at the same times as us. She has a bottle when she wakes then I offer milk every 3/3.5 hours depending on her wants.

I’m no expert as I just started two days ago giving my LO some boiled veg só she can play with them.

I do it at lunch and/or dinner time so I can enjoy a meal without her sitting in my lap. I always give her milk first, she drinks if she wants to.

I’m mainly doing it for fun. She mashes the veg, plays with them in her hands, puts them in her mouth and makes the funniest faces 😂 I’ve tried broccoli and carrot so far, tomorrow we are going for potato.

Someone on Peanut advices me to get the Solid Starts app. The free version tell you how to cut/cook/serve all kinds of food, even according to the LOs age.

Thank you ana I’m guessing to give it a go and offer bottles as I do and it will go from there. Little one isn’t a big milk drinker either so makes me worry x

They recommend an hour after a bottle but if the feeds are all over the place I’d maybe choose a time and stick to it so like half 4 is when you try a veggie? I’m not expert though

When I started a few weeks ago I would try and offer food an hour or so after a milk feed, as longs as she wasn’t really tired.
I did read though as they progress their eating you should offer milk after the solids so they start to think of solids as their “main food” … I’m no expert though!

I am no expert either, not long started myself as lil one turned 6 months recently.

Starting off I wouldn’t stress about doing food at a certain time, at this point it’s about introducing them to food. I always offer milk first & on the recommendation of my health visitor I’m doing a mix of BLW & purees.

I agree that the solid starts app is really good, I’ve found this useful. Also if you sign up to Ella’s kitchen they send you vouchers & a free wall chart where you can track the veg & fruit your baby has tried.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Struggling in the 4 month regression

How are people getting out of the 4 month regression? I’ve been looking it up and it says I need to be trying to put him down drowsy but awake but this does not work for my LO. Every time we do this he ends up being wide awake and after almost an hour of trying we have to contact nap/rock to sleep. I want to avoid rocking to sleep because now when he wakes up in the night he needs to be rocked back to sleep which he never used to need.

Nights are constantly broken because we are up 2-3 times to rock him back to sleep. Please give me your tips on how to survive this and how to get out of this!! Constantly feel like I’m failing and doing something wrong
