Nappy changes, please help!

My little one is 11 months. She WILL NOT let us change her nappy. She screams, cries, tries to get away. We’ve tried doing it wherever she is, so standing up or whatever but she just won’t tolerate it and it’s making me feel really guilty,I’m at a loss of what to do to help :(

Anyone on the same boat or have any advice?

My little boy is the same. Just constantly tries to get away, then screams and whinges because we are keeping him still. He's the same with getting dressed too, it's such hard work. I'm hoping it's just a phase he will grow out of 🤞

ah so glad we’re not the only ones, I’m hoping it’s just a phase too! Xx

Mine is exactly the same. I don't know if you've tried this but I ask her to hold things for me. She likes holding her sudocrem (but is super quick to open it with her teeth if she holds the big one so I have to be quick in making sure she doesn't put her hands in), I sometimes give her wipes but she takes them out then.

My LO is the same but always try to give him distractions and giving him his toothbrush seems to work the best! Always keeps him occupied for a few minutes so I can change his nappy 😊

trying her toothbrush may be a shout! I’ve tried giving her like remotes or toys or putting the tv on for her and stuff but nothing seems enough, so maybe her toothbrush would be fun as she loves brushing her gums 😂 thanks for the suggestion!! Xx

The distractions worked for a while, he now just puts whatever I give him down next to him as an excuse to then roll over to get it, but then immediately tries to crawl off giggling 😅

thank you! Yeah sometimes things work for a few seconds but then she realises what I’m doing and she starts wrestling me😂 but I’m gunna try to give her her toothbrush as she loves brushing her gums haha (still no teeth!!) xx

Yes, mine likes her Toothbrush, she has a little electric one which keeps her occupied sometimes 🤣

My baby loves to try to escape too! I have a box of random stuff for him to fiddle with, things he wouldn’t usually have! So there’s a calpol syringe, a old tv remote, a plastic cup, a food clip, literally just random things he wouldn’t usually have to keep him occupied for a few mins! And I give him a different thing at every change so he doesn’t get bored!

this is a great idea! I’m gunna make a random nappy change distractions box haha thank you!! Xx

I give my LO toys to play with or the pack of wipes etc. I’ve even started singing wheels on the bus to him and it works an absolute treat keeping him still! X

Exactly the same!

I dread nappy changes. She's now in pull ups which have made it a lot better.
We try to give a toy and dangle it over. But it's like she's possessed every change!

And trying to say it loud enough so our neighbours don't think we're harming her by the way she sounds 🫣🫣
She's like when my hair dangles down and she can pull at it. Only thing that works, but my god it hurts 🤦🏼‍♀️

this makes me feel so much better. But I’m sorry that you’re going through the same, this afternoon I created a box of really random stuff like suggested above, it’s got like a calpol syringe, a claw clip, an old dummy box, a plastic spiral thingy and stuff that she’s not normally allowed (obvs we’re supervising her with it) and before she has her nappy done I’ve been taking her with me to choose a nappy and pick up the wipes and sudocrem and then she is choosing a toy from the box and she then has actually been laying down with it, for the whole change and then I’m taking it off her and putting it back in the “special box” so they keep their novelty. it’s worked for 3 changes so far this afternoon so I’m praying it keeps working.

You may have already tried it but if not may be worth a try!! Xxx

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Night time routine

Heya, my 3 week old daughter is currently exclusively breastfed and I’m not pumping. Can anyone recommend the best way to share the load with my partner? At the moment I’m doing all the feeds/burbs/settling and my partner is sleeping through which obviously isn’t sustainable, I’m trying to work out the best way to get him involved. Any advice very much appreciated!

Rant/WWYD

My sister (youngest, 24) has two kids, 4 & 1, and i (oldest, 30) just have my one who’s 6mo old right now, so i ask her for advice or call her to vent about things sometimes. Well im tired of her turning around and telling my other family members that I’m “losing my sh*t.” Literally have not lost my sh*t nor have i ever freaked out to her about my baby, i just call her to talk and tell her what stage my baby is in or talk through how im feeling, but she chooses to tell people that im like a complete nutcase or something which worries me that my family is going to start being judgmental about me as a mother or looking at me funny like I’m some fragile ticking time bomb.

What would you do in this situation? I’m already pretty much decided that I’ll stop telling her anything about my struggles, but I’m almost at the point where i feel like it should be confronted because she, of all people, should understand what I’m going through.

Rapid cool/ hot shot method

Sorry if this sound stupid but how are we doing the hot shot method?
Are we boiling the kettle and letting it cool a little before adding to hot flask? Then with the cool water do you boil the kettle and leave it to cool right down before putting into another flask?
My baby brain is fried trying to work out the easiest way!
