Shit mum

I feel so rubbish and that I’m depriving my 16 week old of experiences. My little girl seems to hate being in the pram and cries and then I get stressed. Plus my anxiety goes through the roof. I maybe go out once a week during the weekdays (weekends are different as dad is there and I try to make the most of it)
I want to take her to groups and classes but I’m too anxious to go. I feel like such a bad mum, plus staying in is going my mental health no good.

I would definitely say to try and get to a group as you'll find other mums in the same situation as you. I know it may be scary the first time but every group I have been to have been really friendly.

Baby steps ❤️ Start just by going to the local shops. I stayed in a lot with my first and I lost myself completely. Now with both I'm out almost every day and I'm feeling really good ❤️ Babies cry, ignore comments that are made or people staring. You're doing amazing xx

Think of it this way - same as the world won’t stay silent because our babies sleep, our babies won’t stop crying just because they’re in public, that’s just how life is. It will get better! 🖤

i feel the same as mine hates being out and to make things even harder she just won’t nap in the pram or car seat so ends up missing her sleep which makes her even crankier. i get so envious seeing people out with their babies as she is only happy at home!
the last two outings we’ve had j have started taking the baby carrier with us so i can put her in there once she gets bored of the pram. it has helped as she falls asleep in there and likes being close to me.
i have taken her to a baby class once a week since she was about 8 weeks old and it’s the only place she loves!
i too, like you, feel anxious and rarely go out but i would recommend baby classes as it is good for you both you and her and you’re in an environment where everyone is in a similar position 💕

Firstly you’re not a shit mum! You clearly love and care for your baby. I really really recommend a baby carrier - I have used our pram about three times (the last time she must have been about 4 weeks old) and now exclusively use the carrier as that’s the only way she’ll settle when out and about. She will often sleep and sometimes has a little look around 🥰 We tried to get to some baby classes, but honestly it wasn’t really working for us either in between naps and feeds. Things I find easier for now are getting out for walks (I’ll listen to a podcast and pick up a coffee), having friends over to the house/or meeting them for a quick walk. I’m going to try baby groups again in a couple of months. Don’t pressure yourself, find something that works for you and remember that babies change so fast that it may well get a lot easier in a few weeks! I was hell bent on doing what other mums were doing, and it was just causing me too much stress. Good luck xx

Just wanted to say I am going through the same so you’re not alone, we went out every day from 8-13 weeks now 19 weeks and have barely left the house in 6 weeks as lo doesn’t sleep at night so I’m exhausted and fights every nap so I’m terrified to go anywhere, however on the days I have got showered and gone out I do feel much better (need to take my own advice) whether that’s a walk a class etc there are also sensory rooms you can hire at a time suits you just a thought instead of a class

I felt the same about baby classes as I'm quite a nervous person and worry what people think of me but I joined up and went and I've been ever since, we go to 2 classes a week and the moms aren't judgemental at all, it helps to get out house for both of us, I would recommend signing up for one, baby's cry in class but it's to be expected x

Honestly, with my first we hardly left the house for the same reason Iv always been a home body but I really hibernated he was absolutely fine, we loved staying in colouring, reading watching movies and playing we went to the park and saw family and friends occasionally he’s now 7 and confident, kind and funny I have just had my second and I don’t feel the need to take her everywhere or do a million and one things like others do! You just do you and take it steady, no pressure and don’t compare everyone is different x

Avatar

Thank you everyone for your responses I appreciate it, I think I’m comparing myself to other mums and what they are doing, going out everyday and doing so much and I feel bad that I’m not: but I’m trying to go out close by for short periods of time just us two and hopefully in time I may feel ready to try and class or group but if I don’t it’s ok ☺️ x

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(

Struggling in the 4 month regression

How are people getting out of the 4 month regression? I’ve been looking it up and it says I need to be trying to put him down drowsy but awake but this does not work for my LO. Every time we do this he ends up being wide awake and after almost an hour of trying we have to contact nap/rock to sleep. I want to avoid rocking to sleep because now when he wakes up in the night he needs to be rocked back to sleep which he never used to need.

Nights are constantly broken because we are up 2-3 times to rock him back to sleep. Please give me your tips on how to survive this and how to get out of this!! Constantly feel like I’m failing and doing something wrong
