Sweep

A lot of midwives won't do a sweep before 39+ weeks unless it has specifically been requested by a consultant.
I feel for you, PGP sucks 😔
I've generally heard that sweeps don't really work unless your body is already getting geared up for labour. Inductions are more successful but do force your body into labour which comes with its own drawbacks.
Would definitely advise going through all options with your midwife or consultant. You can request prenatal physio for PGP but the wait times on the NHS aren't great.

I had one attempted at 37+2 (consultant approved) and she already knew it wouldn’t work, she couldn’t even get to it, still very long and high X

I'm having a sweep on Tuesday when I'll be exactly 40 weeks, where I live they won't give you one earlier than that as its not likely to work.

Sweeps are offered at different stages by different trusts. Ours offer them at 38 but I know some won’t offer til 39, or even 40. It’s definitely worth requesting because you won’t know their process and what they will offer you until you ask, good luck x

I had sweeps attempted at 37+1 and 37+3, couldn’t reach cervix both times.
I’m 37+4 today and going to try again 😅

yeah we've gone through the process of waiting and pushing through but I honestly can't cope anymore. I have an appointment at 38 weeks to discuss induction anyway due to baby's weight tailing and I'm just at a loss now because I really didn't want to be induced at all, hormones in contraception were a nightmare for me so the thought of having hormones pumped into me is terrifying! but if a sweep could potentially bring on labour I'll take the chance.

I do think my cervix will be too high which is why I just wanted to see if anyone at 37 weeks was ever actually successful.

Our physio APTS are 6 week minimum wait time my midwife said weeks ago there wouldn't be a point because by the time I got the appointment there isn't enough time for the exercises to have a benefit.

Bless you, completely feel ya on the hormone front. I came off oral contraceptives for that exact reason.
Try not to stress yourself out over the induction, I know it won't be your first choice but the hospital will take good care of you and baby.

Just an update for anyone that find this post:

I saw the Dr and midwife this evening the Dr was happy to allow an induction based on pelvic girdle pain and siatica but would like me to power through so my body and baby is best prepared for an induction. So my apt is the exact day I turn 39 weeks.

I'm able to have a sweep tomorrow and their process is that is completely up to what I feel is comfortable I can ask for them everyday if I really wanted to obviously they advise every other day but it's completely up to me if I request more they can do more. I assume if I did do every day for a week they'd start pulling me aside and explaining the infection risks ect but honestly biggest thing is just advocate for yourself and if you're in pain don't let it be missed for weeks like I did. You don't have to suck it up, tell the midwife get the physio and co-codamol. I wish I did sooner so I could've stayed having a completely natural birth.
