I recently learned that the sale of crib bumpers have been banned. I’ve seen mesh alternatives, but apparently even those are frowned upon. What are you using to keep your little ones hands and feet protected from getting caught up in the gaps?

Nothing. A cot is made for a baby so is safe as it comes. Anything you add is a hazard and shouldn’t be done

But if baby’s hands & feet are small enough to get stuck between a cribs’ bars, shouldn’t there be something to prevent that? Even with a sleep sack on, an active kicker can get stuck in there.

why would they get stuck? If they’re small enough to fit in the bars they’re small enough to get back out again?
I’d rather a stuck hand or foot than a suffocated or strangled baby 🤷🏻♀️

This is one of the many reasons I opted out of a crib and we do a pack n play til we have the space to get a floor bed. I also don’t like the idea of babies climbing out of cribs once they can walk and climb stuff. 😩
Good luck!

You can buy the braided kind. Some people sell them on Etsy. I never used them but have heard they are safer.

I got a mesh liner and it works so…….. 🤷🏼♀️ it’s extremely taut but I can see how it can be a hazard if you don’t secure it tight but otherwise it’s just the same as the pack and play side

my baby has free arms in her sleep sack and it took one time for her arm to get stuck and I got scared

me too, I happened to be in the room & we just transitioned from bassinet to crib. I noticed in a second she got her foot stuck and started to cry, I ordered the mesh ones immediately. They seem to be doing fine for now.

a stuck hand or foot could lead to a broken hand or foot, I’d rather not have either 🤷🏻♀️

of course you’d rather have neither.
But if it’s a choice between a broken bone or a dead baby, surely that’s a no brainier?! 🤯

yeah I’m in the situation where i am never not watching my baby and my husband watches her at night; it just worked out that way so if she was to grab the liner or it come loose we would see it and it’s so tightly on there I’m not worried. If someone was in a situation where they sleep when baby sleeps and no one has eyes on the baby, I probably wouldn’t use any liner either. I don’t trust a baby alone. They are curious.

Sleep sacks prevent legs getting stuck between bars of crib, and are safer than blankets 😊
