Struggling with sleep? Volunteers for sleep consultant training wanted!

Hi Brisbane mamas 👋🏼

I am putting the call out for any parents who are struggling with baby sleep!

I am a mum of a beautiful 9mo boy and I’m studying to become a Baby Sleep Consultant.

For my training I need 16 bubs (of different age groups) who are struggling with sleep so that I can practice my skills and help you teach your baby how to sleep. This is a free service and in return I ask you to commit to 1-2 weeks of quick phone calls or emails every couple of days to follow up (we can arrange a time that suits you) This will amount to 3-6 quick chats!

Everything I send you during this time will be checked by my mentor, a highly experienced sleep consultant beforehand, so you can be confident that you’re receiving good advice!

At the moment I’m looking for newborns (3-12wks) to work with and I’ll be starting in about a week. Please note there is no sleep training as such at this age as babies are too young for this, but I can teach you calming techniques and help with routines/rituals that aid in better sleep.

Let me know if you’re interested and even if your baby is older I can assist you later on. Please comment if you’d like me to DM you with more info. Please only comment if you actually have an issue as I can’t help you if you don’t need help! 😄

*Feel free to let any of your struggling friends know, they don’t need to be in Brisbane*

Hi Cathy, I'm interested! I have an almost 6 month old. We've sleep trained with the Ferber method and had great improvements with her night sleep, but still need help with naps as she won't follow a schedule and really resists them! Thanks 😊

Hello, I’d be interested when you start working with older babies I have an almost 6 months old who refuses day naps unless they’re contact naps and if still waking 2+ times a night 😁

you don’t have to live in Brisbane! It can all be over the phone. How old is your baby? I’m happy to send you the info and if you still need help when I reach your age group, I’ll be here!

Hi Cathy, I have a 10 week old baby boy and interested - could you please DM me and provide some more info 🙏 Thanks

Hi Cathy, I have an almost 12 week old who will only day sleep in the car/carrier/pram or contact nap if you think we might suit? 😊 night sleeps are ok but not consistent.

in case you're interested ❤️

oh wonderful thank you :) he’s 9 months old, born six weeks early. To be fair he sleeps far better than most babies, but does often rely on me to comfort him e.g. breastfeeding or rocking. I feel he would be easy to get to sleep on his own, however, I just don’t know where to start or how long to allow him to cry for etc

Thanks cathy ❤️

Hi Cathy congrats on studying to be a sleep consultant! I’d be very interested but my baby is 4.5 months. I just finished off 5 days at early parenting centre in Brisbane but disappointed with the results so far. If and when you are looking for older babies, I’m happy to participate. I’m also looking to go back to Masada sleep school in melbourne as they worked wonders with my first kid.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(
