Had my 12 week scan today and was told baby’s bowel is growing on the outside I’m very worried and sad to hear this I’m hoping it will all be okay I’ve been referred to a specialist seeing them Friday everything else about baby seemed healthy and good does anyone have any experiences or know anything more to give me some peace of mind google will drive me insane I need to stop but it’s so hard😩

I don’t have any advise about the condition However just try not to stress you said you’ve been referred which is great and that’s great they picked it up so early moser medicine is great and I’m sure you baby will grow up happy and healthy! Stay strong mamma x

They'll look for other abnormalities that might indicate a genetic condition but it's much more likely that it's an isolated abdominal wall defect. You'll be offered lots of extra scans and it might be that baby needs to be delivered by caesarean section to avoid damage to the bowel. This will probably be in a hospital with neonatal intensive care and paediatric surgery on site so they can plan repair in the first few days.
Scary, I know, but babies go on to lead perfectly normal lives! Xx
