I have been booked in to see the anaesthetist next week before my c section the following week. Just wondering what happens and what to expect at this appointment? As I don’t know whether it’s important that my partner should be there too!
Thank you!! Xx

It’s usually just a chat to talk through the spinal block process and what to expect and if you have any questions… they’ll probably also give you your medication to take the night before and morning of… I wouldn’t say your partner had to be there unless they want to be… mine was actually a phone call rather than a f2f x

I had this with my C-section. It was very quick - like 5 mins. They asked to look at my back (to check there was nothing noticeably a problem for the spinal) and my throat (to check for an issues if there was an emergency). I answered some questions about my overall health and was offered the opportunity to ask any questions.
Thanks for your responses! Did they not chat through what happens on the day of the c section at this appointment or is that at another appointment? Xx

For me it was my consultant that explain a bit about the c section not my anaesthetist.

I had appointment with doctor and anaesthetist who was when I had my induction. I choice to give birth naturally but I was worried if something goes wrong and I need c section. I had past back injury so my midwife booked for me. They goes through options and how that looks explain everything. Was me and my partner because during labour he need to advocate for me . In the end I had emergency c section and I had the same anaesthetist what was on my appointment and he was huge help for me during operation.
