Gestational Diabetes

Has anyone who has GD and has has to take metformin find it's not agreeing with them? I was on 500mg twice a day but on Tuesday they upped it to 1000mg twice a day and its messing me up. I'm never hungry and it makes me vomit on and off all day even tho there is nothing to vomit because I'm not eating. Should I stop taking them? I cant stick being like this all day everyday and it literally has only started since they upped my medication dose 🥺

As someone who took metformin for 10 years for pcos,I can confirm this is very common, but don't stop taking them. Your body will get used to it, and it will get better! Also its best to eat with them, dont take them on an empty stomach. Best of luck x

I was doing research on taking metformin while pregnant and wasn’t too happy with some of the risks. It’s known to reach the placenta. I would take myo inositol vs metformin. They pretty much work the same way only myo in our bodies…
Definitely consult with a doc before taking it. But don’t be surprised if they don’t know much about it.

I've previously took this for PCOS, you can request slow release metformin that may help with the side effects

A lot of women on the gestational diabetes UK group on fb say this. I am using insulin and have had 0 side effects from it. You should let your diabetic team know they might suggest moving you onto insulin. (The finger pricking hurts more than the insulin!) xx

Hi do you have the slow release or just the normal? I’m on the slow release and insulin and haven’t had any side affects

I think they are just normal Metformin 500mg BP? Going to have to call the midwife today because Its just getting worse everytime I take them 😔 Do you have to use insulin everyday?

Day out after c section

Hey,
I had an emergency c section 1 week ago I obviously don't want a day out right now but I have things booked for the Easter holidays so in 2 weeks. I was just wondering if I will be overdoing it if I have a day out then or will I be ok? I would still take it as easy as I could. When did everyone feel good enough to go out?

Reduced Movements

Has anyone else gone in for monitoring for reduced movements and as soon as you arrive at triage the baby starts moving and the CTG is normal? It makes me feel like I am over reacting.

2nd pregnancy after c section

I’m not planning on getting pregnant anytime soon but in the future possibly. I just wanted to know how is pregnancy after c section like my fear is having to go through another emergency operation or even putting strain on my incision during pregnancy

Baby Movements

Hello, I’m a FTM currently 18W5D pregnant. I’ve been getting this tugging feeling in my stomach after I eat, it’s uncomfortable but not painful. I don’t know whether that’s the baby moving or round ligaments pain.

I’ve also been getting round ligament pain which is either a sharp stabbing pain or a stretching sensation. These happens whether or not I’ve eaten while the tugging feeling is only after I’ve eaten.

So, could the tugging feeling be the baby or something else.

Anyone getting a private scan at exactly 6weeks

I just wanna know my baby is actually there after losing my first at 5w

Labour

Think im a bit confused really, i went into traige as was having contractions eveey 3-5mins. Since being here im now having them every 2-3mins which was confirmed with the machine and i think the toco was 90-100 and they feel painful and my lower back is in loads of pain but apparently im only just over 2cm dilated maybe, she has said i can stay here for a bit longer to see if things progress as had a previous quick birth as well but i dont understand why the pains are coming this quick if im only 2cm dilated and feel a bit deflated from it also.

I had a sweep this morning also.
