Hey🥰 my baby boy is almost 4 weeks old and is suffering really badly with silent reflux. We had his tongue tie released on Tuesday so hoping over time this will help.
Is there any formulas anyone has found which has helped or reduced symtoms a little? The GP has prescribed him Gaviscon (which is not helping so far) and he is currently on Aptamil but I can hear the acid in his chest/tummy constantly and he literally never sleeps, even if I keep him upright!! There is no suspected allergy according to the GP and HV.
I bought the Kendamil goat milk yesterday and was going to incorporate 1 bottle each day (he had one yesterday and 1 today) but he was sick after the bottle and screamed afterwards which he doesn’t usually do - however he did drink more than he usually does. I also tried the Aptamil comfort and he was feeding every 1.5 hour which of course wasn’t helping the acid. I am terrified to start him on anti reflux formula because he is on gaviscon and I don’t want to put too much pressure on his wee system.
Also, if anyone has any sleep recommendations that would also be appreciated, the 3/4 hours I finally get him to sleep at night it’s beside me propped up on my arm, I have tried tilting the next to me and lying him on his side but he just squirms then eventually gets very upset. It’s all making me extremely anxious😢

My daughter is now 16 weeks old and has suffered from reflux since birth. She is currently on omeprazole & we also give her a reflux formulated milk.
We use HIPP Organic, they have a reflux and regurgitation & also a colic and constipation milk.
We originally was using Aptamil for about 10 weeks and the reflux just wasn’t getting any better and there was grunting through the night as well as all the other symptoms. We moved on to this new formula and it’s the best thing we ever done x

it’s Hipp that I was looking to change to! He does bring his wind up and isn’t really sick on Aptamil but the reflux symptoms are getting worse by the day to the point he is literally going very long periods not sleeping and we’re trying absolutely everything😠he’s in our arms 24/7, is it the reflux one you use? What age did they start your wee one on Omeprazole at, as expected it’s only been a day and a half and the gaviscon is constipating him which is why I said to the GP I didn’t want him on it. The grunting and wheezing is getting really bad now x

I couldn’t recommend HIPP enough. It gives me a silent night now!
Poor little thing, I would definitely try changing the milk because what I found with the aptamil was too harsh on her and she wasn’t digesting it too well which I felt caused the reflux more (if that even makes sense)
We use the reflux one 😊
She has been on omeprazole since she was 2 days old. I haven’t tried gaviscon so I can’t comment on it but I haven’t heard great things.
For his constipation, have you tried giving him some cool boiled water between feeds
It may even sooth his little throat a bit.
I gave my little one small bits of water to help and it really did help. Not huge amounts but it really did get things going.
I also use some herbal nasal drops from time to time, to help the wheezing and sniffles and that really helps too clears her. Xx

he was screaming in pain late last night and nothing was settling him, he was wanting constant bottles so I took him out in his car seat as that sometimes settles him and went and bought HIPP. Feeling terrible as I have tried comfort and goat milk but definitely won’t be changing him again after this one😢 I ended up phoning out of hours also as he’s basically slept about 6 hours all weekend and is constantly bright red in the face, squirming really badly and won’t even settle upright on our chests (also with white noise playing in a dark room), they have prescribed him Carobel so will pick that up today. The GP and out of hours just keep telling me to continue with gaviscon which I understand but it’s been in all of his bottles and he is still not falling asleep at all so it’s clearly not helping💔 xx

My daughter was on meds and also had it. I did the following items and it helped her:
- hypoallergenic formula - we use nutramegin Enfamil
- added probiotic power once a day in her milk
- added cereal one ounce for every ounce of milk to keep her from kicking up.
- slept at a 30 degree angle. She was no longer able to sleep flat on her back since it kicked up.
- kept her upright during feedings, after every 2 ounces I stopped and burped her for 15 mins and then when I saw she didn’t want anymore milk I kept her upright for 20-25 mins.
- infant chiropractor
- dr brown 5 ounce bottles with the collic green insert I used and helps a lot with having the cereal mixed with the milk and not it not getting jammed.
She is a much happier baby now and the reflux stopped. I went to 2 different drs including an er dr and got a combo of all these items from them. Best of luck to you.

I am so sorry he is going through this. I really hope the medicine works for him and the new milk helps. It’s awful when you can’t physically help or take the pain away.
Sending you all the love. Xx
