Right can someone give me some tips and tricks before I loose the will to live! 😫🙃
Buckle in it’s a long one🤣
I took my little girls diddies on Friday night. 5 nights ago! I explained the whole situation to her, I said they’ve gone to poorly babies that need them! She will happily tell you diddies with babies. Anyway, she has always been a great sleeper, slept 13 hours through the night, would put her in bed awake read a story leave, she’s self settle and go to sleep, the last 5 nights she’s screaming for 3/4 hours a night?! I put her down at 7:25pm tonight, it’s now 10pm!!! She’s still screaming, I’ve tried, replacing comfort with a teddy, blanket and even a toy. We went a bought a new Teddy on Saturday for her been a big girl and giving diddies to the baby’s, I’ve tried singing to her, lullabies on, light projector on, laying with her, cuddling her, stroking her head, and NOTHING is helping no matter what I am doing she is continuously screaming, last night after 3 and a half hours I had to stop trying I was getting myself worked up and was really overwhelmed, I’m a single mum so no one to ask to swap with anyway she continued screaming for 10 minutes and fell asleep, but I feel so guilty that she just screamed herself to sleep,’ surely there is another way to get her to go to sleep without her going to sleep so worked up and upset, inHATE the fact she was alone screaming (I was only in the room next door) but I’ve NEVER done the “cry it out” methods or anything. I don’t personally like the thought or of.
Please someone must have some advice 🤣😭
If you got this far THANK YOU VERY MUCH 🙏🏼

Hey. I don’t have any advice regarding dummies as my girl never had one. And I also am not a fan of the die hard ‘cry it out’ method. However we did the Ferber method which involves leaving baby just for a couple of mins to begin with and then increasing to time period. Yes they cry and it’s heartbreaking to hear that and watch on the monitor but it took only a few days and we now put her down awake. Every now and again we get a whimper but generally she just talks herself to sleep now. We did this because getting her to settle was taking almost an hour and we didn’t have any time to ourselves to just relax.
It might not be for you but it’s an option.
On the other hand, like most things, the screaming at night is probably just a phase she has to work through while she adjusts.

I will be facing this soon as my daughter has a dodo for sleeping. She’s had a lot of changes recently: new house, new brother so won’t tackle this for a while.
If it’s any reassurance, and maybe your daughter needs them to settle for a bit longer I asked the dentist about this and they said having a soother isn’t really an issue until they have they’re adult teeth coming in. I’m taking that and running with it for a bit of relief. I might try in the new year can we wean of nighttime and naps x

thank you, when I spoke to my dentist he said 2, so I was getting worried I didn’t want it to affect her teeth, or her speech and language! This is something I wish in knew sooner! I don’t feel like it would be right to giver her it back now after 6 days not having it and confusing her if that makes sense! But I wish I knew this sooner I’d of waited a bit longer! Thank you so much! And congratulations on the new baby! Xx

thank you I’ll have a look into this xx

My girl will be 2 next month amd we got rid of the dummy 2 weeks ago! She was only having it for sleep for a while now and one day woke up with a red spot on her tongue from keeping it all night so I just decided it was time,I just plain and simple didn’t gave it to her anymore , it was some hard few days , took her roughly 2 hours to fall asleep everytime and cried , I would go in and comfort her from time to time but after like day five she started to forget about it , now she is self settling with her stuffed bunny or a doll and i’m so happy 🥹🥹

Your child has never self settled if she had a dummy and used that to settle.
I agree that after 6 days theres no pount going back and giving them a dummy now.
You could try comfort stacking. This is where you use 2 or 3 different comfort methods at once and then slowly take them away.
It will take time but they'll get there.

Our son was the same. He slept awful for about 2 weeks. We did milk in the night with a straw so kind of like a dummy I guess and that's really helped. Last night he actually slept through!! Hopefully it'll get better. We don't mention the dummies at all. If he says anything we say "oh they're all gone now remember. Shall we have some milk" or some sort of diverting to some other topic 🤗 and my son was OBSESSED with the dummy and wouldn't sleep without it. So it does get better!;

thank you! I needed to hear this! My little girl has a straw bottle of water that she has in bed with her! I’m happy for you! And hopefully we not too far behind on sleeping better xx
