My almost 20 mo old still isn’t talking. he will repeat ‘dada’ but could give 2 shits less about ‘mama’ lol whenever I say ‘ball’ he’s always laughing at it but he pays attention. I said ‘I love you’ and he almost mocked the sounds!
He’s being evaluated at the end of this month for autism, his pediatrician said he might be borderline autistic but it’s still early. Is there anyone else going through something like this?

Have you tried singing the word. I did it out if the blue and my daughter repeated it.
Sing, “can you say ——“ see what happens

Have you tried repetitive teaching

I am going through this with my now three year old. She wouldn’t talk, she had texture issues, and eating issues. At 1.5 she started OT, ST, developmental therapy and started seeing a nutritionist. It seemed like nothing was changing for the longest time, then all the sudden 4 months ago it’s like a switch just clicked in her brain. She’s talking in sentences, she’s in preschool and engaged with other kids, her texture and eating hasn’t improved but so many other things she grew out of with the support of us as parents and therapy. She was tested for autism right before these improvements started and they thought she might be on the spectrum. Not they are pretty sure she isn’t. Even if your child is and continues to be, use all the resources your ped will help you get. It makes the difference. You got this mama.

My son is 20months today and can’t say words fully but I know what he’s saying sometimes, doesn’t say no but he will shake his head 🤣accept I haven’t been told anything ab it he’s getting his hearing testing done after he’s 2 bc the lady said it’s the most closest opening they have unfortunately

Definitely good that you are seeking resources from the pediatrician! My daughter was born a month early and had a lot of delays in crawling, babbling and some gross motor function and we were able to get a lot of free resources through the state of California that worked with her, and now she is almost completely caught up

My girl is the same and she is 20 mths as well.. But i hate to say it i think its because i don't force her to have the opportunities to talk she knows if she whines with certain gesture or what have you that i will immediately provide what she wants.. Im going crazy because i feel i should respond to her as soon as i can shes my last but i still have rules boundaries she hears the words no don't etc but if shes hungry or wants a different toy, or to play a game, snacks, be picked up, anything i do it if possible. I hate to say it but i think me over providing is contributing to her slow growth verbally.

My son had his 18 months app today. He has referral in for hearing test, and ST. He was also referred to autism evaluation
