No routine whatsoever!

Anyone else still have absolutely no routine for their baby? I see all these posts about first naps, last naps, settling for bedtime, and I don't do any of this! Baby is breastfed, wakes up when he wants, feeds on demand, naps whenever and wherever he falls asleep and comes up to bed with me whenever I go up! Anyone else? It's working so I'm not worried about changing it, bit might try and get some rough routine in place over the next few months.

I have twins and a toddler and we have no routine at all! I am not even going to try and focus on that until after the sleep regression so I can get an idea of what their sleep needs are.
Also tracking for two babies is too much of a ballache for me right now!

We don’t have any routine either! 14 weeks now and he just feeds when he wants (roughly every 3 hours) naps whenever and comes up with us when we do x

Good to hear its not just me! With my first I think he settled himself into some kind of routine as an older baby (maybe like 8-9 months old?) but until then he just did his own thing (which to be fair was to not sleep anywhere, ever 🤣)

Avatar

I don't either! Falls asleep anywhere between 9-10:30pm for bedtime 🤷.

No routine and after speaking to hv the other day they don’t need to be in one yet and not to worry about it! X

I got worked up as my little girl isn’t in a routine at all and saw so many posts about babies in a perfect routine. But now I’ve spoken to my other mum friends I’ve chilled out and just letting her lead the way! She feeds every 4 hours but wakes up, naps and goes to bed at different times every day x

No real routine! (He's 12 weeks) I've tried to but last night he fell asleep at 10.30 but was due a feed at 11, and there I was waiting and he never woke up! Ended up going to bed at midnight with him and he slept through til 7.30 ( apart from a couple of little grumbles in the night). I find if I feed him before he cries for food during the day, he sleeps for longer at night as he's had more calories so that's now my game plan x

So nice reading these comments 😊 I’ve been so worried about not having a routine set for my 9 week old son. We just go with flow at the minute and it works for us xxx

Avatar

No routine here either! 11 weeks old

Avatar

Not much of a routine no xx

Avatar

There is no routine here either. I just go with the flow and whatever he wants

No routine. I'll let my boy give me cues for most things and we tend to go to bed about 10pm and get up about 11am with 3/4 wake ups 🤷 bath every third night as well (unless he needs one sooner) . But besides that. No routine :) we walk and play and sing and sleep when we please 😂

Avatar

Same, I’m following her lead. I think it’s the best way to go right now anyway

Avatar

We are exactly the same! Works for us as he just sleeps whenever or wherever we are during the day! 😁

Avatar

No routine here I thought we had one in the morning and naps during the day but we’ve never had an evening one because my LG doesn’t sleep for more than an hour at a time at night 😂😂

Avatar

We have no routine other than the last nap of the day when she wakes up we just get ready for bed. That’s normally around 9pm but sometimes not lol. She’s breastfed so feeds on demands which seems to be anytime she looks at me 😂🤣🥲 even at 9 weeks

Avatar

No routine here either, I follow my boys lead. Feed on demand and nap whenever he is tired! I dont look at wake windows as I stressed with this with my first and it didn't work anyway 😂x

The only thing we do is put our baby into pyjamas around 20:00. Otherwise it's very much a baby led day and night

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

I think Motherhood has made me more bitter than I realized…

This is such a ramble but I don’t know where else to put it all.

I’m four months in and I don’t really have hobbies right now. I don’t do anything for myself except maybe doomscrolling or listening to a podcast while I breastfeed my baby. I used to craft and have game nights with friends. Activities that usually are at least 2 hour stretches. Now if I have an hour free my mind immediately goes to baby, or doing something in the house for baby.

And I thought I didn’t mind. Like I knew postpartum could be very mentally consuming. But I think it’s altering how I view people around me and it’s prodding at my relationship with my husband.

He spends most of his time making food for us, looking after our dogs, playing with the baby, ect. But he still has time for his hobby. Spends maybe an hour a night on it. Even adapted to using a bot for shopping for his hobby after a certain incident where we had to have a heart to heart after he left me home alone with the baby for hours during a busy workday (I work from home) to shop for his hobby.

And yet there’s like this little green eyed monster in me that rages every time I know he’s running off to start up the bot. Even though I’m the reason he does it this way.

We took a family trip last weekend to see his best friend and their kids and let them meet the baby. He brought the laptop. He’s always brought a laptop on trips and it’s never been a problem to me before. But one night we both woke up while the baby was still asleep, and he wandered out of the room. I tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. So I went to the kitchen to try having something warm to drink to settle me. And he was there at the table running the bot from his laptop. I flipped out at him. But there really wasn’t reason to. It’s not like I needed help with the baby and he was ignoring me. He wasn’t avoiding our friends. He was just awake and unable to sleep and found something to do with his time. Yet my snap reaction was “why the hell would you do this on a family trip?”

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the less complete sleep from baby’s middle of the night feed? My brain being just consumed by baby? Maybe I’m not as over that shopping incident as I thought? But I’m just so annoyed at his hobby right now. The green eyed monster thinks “you could be using that time differently” but realistically to do what exactly??? Stare at our baby in the dark???

I spent probably an hour apologizing to him after I snapped. And he’s of course hurt and frustrated because I said some very mean things in the moment.

I don’t want to be this jealous, angry person. But I also don’t know how to find time for myself in this right now outside of basic hygiene. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to be myself, even if just for an hour.

Maybe I need a therapist.

Vaccination advice

I’m really looking for advice and opinions on vaccines for my baby. I’m not against getting them but also just don’t feel like I know enough about them to make a decision just yet as I’ve had people say to me they don’t agree with them and they can cause issues etc… so I just want as much info as possible. What are everyone’s thoughts and experiences of vaccinating your child? I’m just interested to see everybody’s views (no judgement as I just want to know I’m doing the right thing) thank you x
