I'm just after a little advice regarding babies I'm social situations, such as playgroups, soft play etc
My LB is pure joy. He is always happy, forever smiling and just loves people! Whenever we are at soft play, music lessons or play groups he gets really excited. His little face lights up as soon as we enter and sees other babies, toddlers and adults. He is such an active little boy too, doesn't sit still, always on the go. What I worry about is whenever he sees another baby or a toddler he just wants to grab at them. He grabs their hair, trys to pull himself up on them, crawl over them etc He does this all with a smile or laughter. I know they have no cognitive understanding about how they could hurt others but is anyone else experiencing this with their LO? I'm so worried about him growing up and being heavy handed or labelled as the kid who hurts others! I'm constantly hovering over him in a bid to avoid any harm to other babies and forever saying sorry to parents about how active and tactile he is with their babies.
Any advice is welcome š

I think itās totally normal behaviour for babies⦠We practice āgentleā. I repeat the word, & move his hand slowly. For example, when stroking a dog. Also, if he grabs my hair, I release his grip, repeat āgentleā with Mommy⦠Works for us. āŗļø
@Robynne that's encouraging to hear, thank you. š

My LB is very similar. Heās just very active and sociable. When he sees other babies, he tries to poke them in the eyes or grab their nose. Heās just curious and playful and of course doesnāt mean any harm. I also repeat āgentle handsā to him. Iāve been advised that itās normal and am not too worried. Iād be worried if he does it intentionally when heās a bit older, but right now, heās just a curious baby exploring his environment.

My little boy is exactly the same 𤣠I do worry when weāre in social situations, but more about what other parents will think/say about it even though as you say they donāt understand! My boy looks a lot older than he is also so I think parents presume he should know better š¬ I am however reassured as I asked his nursery how he is with other children and they said heās perfectly fine š itās easy to get in our own heads about it! X

My boy is exactly the same and Iām nervous for him starting nursery soon for the same reason! I am always following him around saying gentle and moving his hands away; most of the other mums have usually been nice about it though. I know itās normal behaviour but the other babies at groups/soft play donāt seem to do it š© I did leave one group as felt like I was getting judged about him being much more active⦠Iām never going to be sorry for having a happy, social, curious baby though š
@Hana thank you so much this is really encouraging š I will continue with the modelling
@Sophie that's exactly how it leaves you feeling! I'm usually a very confident and secure person but now I feel paranoid what other parents think!
I feel the same about being proud of their nature. Thank you for your reply

Oh my gosh Iām experiencing the same thing right now, Iāve just posted about it. I feel so isolated in group situations because I know theyāre feeling nervous about their baby being around mine. He just wants to play and heās not shy about it.
I honestly just got home from leaving soft play because I could see the mothers feeling uncomfortable š£ now Iām sad feeling sad for my baby not being able to join in ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø
