Going on holiday - HELPHELPHELPPPP please

Ok so my daughter is formula fed, I’m really stuck on what to do.

I was just going to take a shit load of ready made formula as it’s just a week and it will be about 20 bottles I need but worried my suitcase will go over.

Then I thought to take some in my hand luggage but how much ‘ready made’ formula am I allowed to take with me in my hand luggage?

I typed in on google and they said about testing it.. well if the bottles open it only gives me 2 hours!

I’ll be honest I’m just stressing out the thought of the holiday rather than looking forward to it. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Also, any idea on any other bits to suggest bringing that I may have not thought of?

Thank you x

Hi lovely, please don’t stress. This website could be helpful? https://www.gov.uk/hand-luggage-restrictions/baby-food-and-baby-milk

Just to add onto my experience, we took about 6 ready made bottles as our daughter is combi fed. They don’t open the formula to test, they put it in a machine and do a few swabs to make sure you’re not concealing anything so you’re not on the clock, don’t worry!

It will obviously weigh heavy with everything else you’ll need…
You are supposed to take through security what you need for the journey…

You could do a click and collect from boots (airside) then it doesn’t need to go through security, but might be a hassle to carry with everything else…

I've been on 4 flights and took ready to feed through security and nobody questioned how much I was taking. You could even say they need it every 2 hours and you brought enough to cover for delays too. Only had the bottles put through the scanner each time 😊

Depending on where you're going you can buy ready to feed abroad, we found it everywhere in Finland but it's nonexistent in Portugal so we had to resort to buying powder. We've got a very unfussy baby so we were ok with alternative brands to our usual milk though so I know that's not always possible.

By it click and collect from boots in the Airport....

I dont think there is a weight limit for baby formula cos i took the full 800g can along with 8 bottles of ready made formula and 9/10pouches of baby food. They didnt open anything to check

My friend did click and collect from boots inside the airport! If you are worried then I would do this! But I don’t think they actually open and test the baby formula. X

When do you go? Will baby be ready for normal milk by then?

I go on tuesday x

Yea I did think to do boots click and collect but will be so heavy with everything else, I’ve been stressing because I’m going with my mum, not my partner so I feel like theres going to be a lot for me 🤦🏼‍♀️ but I may just split the bottle between us both and hand luggage and hope it will be fine 🤞🏼🤞🏼 x

Avatar

ah brilliant, thank you.. i think I’ll leave boots, take 6 bottles in my hand luggage, 6 or so in my case and do the same for my mum if they dont check xx

Avatar

I think you need to order a week before for boots so probably too late anyway.
But I’d take a tub of formula too and some Milton tablets, it’s really not that bad & presume you are still sterilising?
We had to pay extra luggage when ours was that age… you don’t realise!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ have a great time!

Depends on airport and airline, so check, I was only allowed to take 2liters of pre-made in hand luggage, and like everyone already said they don’t open it, just swab the outside. But make sure you get to airport early as it takes forever for them to swab etc.
Depending where you are flying you might be able to buy formula there..?

Take a tub of powdered formula or the tablet form, and a travel kettle and a flask, then you can make it in your room, and take a flask of boiling out with you and make bottles on the go.

It’ll be fine.

Hi we just got back from holiday 2 days ago, we went to Majorca. We took a tub of sealed formula through Manchester, then the tommee tippee formula tubs for two bottles, food pouches (he does BLW but for convenience we used pouches on the plane). On the way back we took the unsealed formula and the TT tubs again.

They don’t open and test formula but I think if you make it in bottles they might. X

We took loads tbh for the baby! About 5 pouches, 4 bottles (with sterilised water in), a tub, smaller tubs.

They were very accommodating to the baby and didn’t ask any questions

We was through security in about 15 mins as well! Manchester fast track under 3s

As you can travel with 2 free baby items I took my travel cot and pram… for my travel cot I brought an extra large bag from amazon to put it in and filled it with pre made formula bottles plus swim and normal nappies as there is no weight restriction on these items! I took about 30 bottles as I always panic pack! Been away 4 times this year and done the same each time and never questioned!

I'm going away next Monday and wondering the same! I think I'm going to order ready made bottles to collect from Boots once through security, but I have read to leave plenty of time as someone did it & they said they needed 20 mins to get it ready which they didn't have time for. I'll take a fairly empty rucksack to put it in & then it'll be classed as hand luggage (but we'll also have pram till we get on the plane). The other thing I've read about is taking car seat & putting it into the hold, but filling it with towels & nappies etc.
Other things we're taking -

Paddling pool to use by pool, and also to use as a bath incase we only have a shower

Bed sheet to use on the beach to sit on (weigh down corners) - will hopefully minimise sand!

Large tub with lid for sterilising bottles (debating whether to get a collapsible bucket to take up less space in the suitcase)

I took 4 ready made bottles in her changing bag along with a flask with water (thats not too hot so when i do need to make her a bottle not waiting too long to cool down) and then 4 clean bottles with powder in the little containers for the bottles.

I put two boxes of formula in checked luggage to use once im there.

I had ready made bottles for travelling going and coming back not for the actual holiday.

I hope that helps 😊

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡

Took 9 week old to a family party where there was loud music and she was next to the speaker for most of the time (about 3 hours). She slept through most of it. Do you think she has hearing loss from this?

Freaking out right now :(
