I have no experience of this but from what I understand amniocentesis can be risky and ultrasound measurements can be off so baby may be fine anyway. Are you able to get a private scan where they can see if they also think baby is measuring small? Also did you have the screening for downs etc and did that come back normal risk?

Hi Katie. Yes I had the screening and that came back low risk.
I'm high risk pregnancy due to having a still born so I'm having more scans.
My 20 week scan measured small so I was sent for another scan which was carried out by a feotal medicine consultant..this was when she confirmed the bones all measured small
I haven't been for a private scan xx

It sounds like usually the amnio is to test for those on the screening but I don’t know what else they can test for. Ultimately it is your decision at the end of the day, maybe see if you can find any other pages on here where there may be more people who have been through a similar situation in the past. All the best for this pregnancy 🤞🏼

I have posted on a few pages so I'm hoping I can get some advice..re assurance . Xx

i would defo not take the amnio, ive always been scanned for small babies and never offered that, but they’re dangerous in itself, ive had 2 /3 small babies and my 4th is looking the same but theyve all been healthy and fine without intervention

Thank you. I think I've been offered it because of my history as I am a high risk pregnancy...its her bones thIat are measuring small. Rather than weight she They're saying they would like to test for chromosome or genetic abnormalities such as dwarfism..downs ..other things . There are risks with the test I believe which does worry me
Thank you xx

My last baby stopped growing at 28 weeks. FRG fetal restricted growth. Each week he wasn't meeting the normal measurements. They never offered me such testing so I dont know what it is. He was 2 months behinde in growth when he was born. They put me on weekly stress testing and bi weekly ultrasound to check blood flow ect. Every was normal. He was just small born at 38 weeks 5lbs3 oz

Thank you Marina for your message. There's so many things to consider. Xxx

Call ARC they'll talk you through everything

Hi just wanted to update people in case you were going through any thing similar..I went for a scan today and the doctor took more measurements..bany still measures small but shes growing along the same line..they said they didn't think doing the amniocentesis today was necessary..he said that the risks at this stage are higher than just miss carriage..it can cause premature labour and also long term problems for baby so we didn't end up needing to have the amniocentesis..
I'm taking that as positive and we have scans every 2 weeks

For me I was induced at 38 weeks. To be safe . I posted before I was on weekly dopplers and ultrasound to make sure baby placenta was working properly. My baby stopped growing at 28 weeks.

My baby thrives after giving birth. I hope the same to you. Thanks for the update im glad they didn't say you need amniocentesis, sending you positive vibes 😍🥰
And you have a heamth and safe pregnancy/ Delivery.

Thank you so much it's re assuring to hear your story also xx

hi 👋🏽 That’s good news 🙂
I am going to tell you my experience if that’s okay:
My daughter was the same and at 33 weeks she stagnated, doctor/ consultant decided to induce birth at 36 weeks.
They gave me steroids injections to help with her lungs ( to ensure they were fully developed).
We managed a natural birth and she was fine ( didn’t need support breathing) she stayed at hospital 7 days just to control body temperature and feeding patterns.
She was tiny at 1.5kg. She carried on growing along the 0.4 centile and catching up slowly.
I joined a group on Facebook for IUGR babies and found lots of important information and support.
I took my daughter to see a paediatrician for DNA tests, a dietician and growth hormone specialist. All from the back of the support/ info from the group. All tests clear.
She is 6 years old now, she is petite but super healthy, smart, kind and funny. She is doing well at school.
DM me anytime if you would like.
