Baby must haves!

What are some items that you would recommend to a first time mum? Confused on what’s pram/car seat/bag etc to get!😩

I would disagree with the previous comment. I have a car so don’t walk everywhere but have a travel system. It had to be sent away and we were given a stroller for a few weeks and I HATED it! I would absolutely recommend a good travel system.

Just goes to show we’re all different and love and dislike different things.

Definitely agree with the swivel base isofix car seat though. We have the Cybex T cloud and would recommend. Also lies quite flat which is great.

Car seat I would highly recommend a maxi cosi as you can get adapters for almost all prams for these and they are a brand leader for lots of reasons. Bag wise get a rucksack style one it will last much better as you will need one when you have a toddler.

We had a mama and papa Ocarro travel system which we liked with our second child for around town etc. I would definitely look for a lay flat push chair seat and that can fold as a single unit as this is a lot more convenient then dismantling a 2 part push chair. Depending you lifestyle an all terrain option is very helpful we have an old out&about which is amazing and my friend loves her mountain buggy urban jungle as they stand up-to anything. X

I only have a car seat that attaches to the buggy. We knew we weren’t going out much when she was a newborn, and when we did, I just had her sleeping in a sling instead of car seat.

For me, the essentials would be: sling for easy carrying and contact naps, nursing pillow (either for nursing or just to rest your arms when holding LO), somewhere to put baby down in any room (this can be bassinet, Moses basket, swing, etc)

For when baby is older, I’d recommend a bouncer. Even if they can only use it for short periods of time a day, my LO absolutely loves hers.

Car seat - Cybex cloud z! They’re fab as can recline fully flat for when on long journeys or you wanna use it on the wheels as a “pram”

Portable white noise machine (although I just use my phone) but my god that sound has saved me from a screaming baby in public a number of times 🤣

Baby bouncer that’s not heavy! We have a cheap unbranded one and use it all the time to get stuff done round the house! My LG is more than happy sitting in it while I do the washing, cooking or even sat in it on the sofa while I eat 😂

INOBY portable bottle warmer, it’s pricey but we’ve definitely got our money out of it!! Best thing ever for feeds on the go!

Disco lights! Sometimes it’s enough to distract my daughter whilst making a bottle 🤣

We have the mamas and papas Ocarro travel system that comes with the Cybex swivel car seat and isofix. It was pricey, but absolutely love it! The car seat lies flat, so if you are quickly popping in the shop, doctors for a coffee you do have that option. But the cot part of the pram is so gorgeous it’s worth getting out😍

I will definitely use this travel system with other babies. It is a little bulky, but I do love it!

Sound machine, Chicco my first dreams bear, the Rockit are all brilliant sleeping aids!!!

There is so many things I could list, but these are the main items for travel and sleep xx

I think you can probably tell from the above that it all comes down to your lifestyle. Different horses for courses and all that 😂 We have a dog, travel frequently by air and car so those were things we had to consider.
So for us a compact stroller (babyzen) was something we wanted in addition to our full travel system, as we can be in the car a bit we wanted a lie flat car seat (Cybex) for walking the dog in fields it’s easier to have a carrier than pram so we went for Artipoppe ( LOVE IT)!
Other bits we’ve used a lot is our Rockit, silver cross buffet high chair (don’t currently use it for eating but just to have him higher up sitting whilst cooking etc, then we can interact), Tiny love portable mobile for the pram, Tiny love attachable activity bar, Halo next to me and our white noise machine. Our LO also loves his shuggle bath! Again for trips we bought the UV Nuby portable steriliser which has been fab, we definitely use that a lot! X

The Babyzen yoyo2 pram is compatible with the Cybex z2 car seat - just saying, as I love it, and it’s all nice and compact :)

Just saying this, as it was mind boggling looking at prams - and I’m happy with this combination - but it wasn’t easy working it out.

(Think the Cybex z2 has a successor now - but equally I think it’s still sold too). It also goes on a isofix base, and can partially recline on that, and fully recline if put on the pram base (which requires car seat adaptors).

I did however then buy a larger pram with large wheels, and a bassinet - given the potholes and cobbles that Babyzen got stuck in. Now that baby is bigger though, there’s more weight in the Babyzen - and so it no long gets stuck. Still use both peaks regularly tho.

Personally my can’t live without is a big blanket my son is all legs and all the baby blankets do not fit him. Having a large blanket he can use makes naps and bedtime way easier

And frankly, I love these blankets, and so does baby

In regards to actually choosing a pram/travel system go to proper shops and test them out. But then order online as you get much better offers. https://www.pramworld.co.uk was amazing and sell pretty much every pram at great prices and fast delivery. X

Hey everyone my baby is 5 months old and I want to reduce/cut screen time as I have read up on how bad it is what activities did people do to keep their baby entertained. Thank you in advance.

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?
