This is really hard!

My baby is 8 days old and the last 2 nights she hasn't slept at all. From 10-4:30 she's up screaming and getting so worked up and agitated and nothing will calm her down. During the day she's really good, has a feed, has a long sleep etc, but the second we get to nighttime I can't console her. I think she might have wind issues. She's wants to latch constantly but she doesn't actually feed, just uses my boobs for comfort. Tried a dummy last night out of desperation but again all she did was suckle on it really hard and aggressively and it didn't sooth her at all. To top things off I've now come down with a cold and I feel exhausted! I just had to come here to vent about how hard this is. Has anyone had a similar experience?

Try to bath baby between 8 pm and 9 pm with a warm water. press the body with a little beat of hot water on a towel. Breast feed up to 20 mins and watch your baby sleep for so long.

she's still got her umbilical cord on, but I could use a little flannel on her chest if that would work?

Thank you! I'll have a look

Infocal is great for wind can use from birth Tesco sell it it’s only like 4.50 top to tail her we do this with our son we put him in the bedroom in a nice dim light jug of warm water and a nice soft flannel and wash him down gentle then moisturise him before he gets his bottle nice and calm and relaxed it seems to settle him we didn’t bath him till his cord fell off but even now he’s nearly a month old we have only bathed him twice with water as your not suppose to use any soaps until there a month old always here if you need to drop me a message I know how hard the nights can be xxx

Do you give formula? Ours had the worst wind issues, and we changed to comfort formula and it’s made so much difference. That, along with colief (check the age for that) has made such a positive change. Other things-warm up the cot, swaddle them, white noise. Good luck mumma! xxx

Sending hugs. Sounds really hard! Have you tried some light massage for the winding and doing bicycle legs? Red light and white noise machine may help too or a rockit crib vibrator (if she sleeps well in a moving car or pram). Mine also wanted to latch constantly around this time, but no wind issues. He is definitely afraid of the dark so I got black out curtains for no reason.

Is her weight doing OK? When mine was latching every 30 mins at night I got the impression he was hungry but too sleepy to actually feed so I had to try to wake him to feed properly and then he slept. Slightly undress and blow air on neck or tickle under chin to get a suckle going.

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

4 month sleep regression

Does anyone else feel like they’re back in the newborn trenches through the 4 month sleep regression ?? 😭😭 my boy turned 4 months yesterday and the past 3 nights he’s woken up every 20-40 minutes. He does manage to get back off to sleep after I give him his dummy. It’s so strange though because his daytime naps don’t seem to be affected? He has 2 x long naps a day (around 2 hours) and a couple 30-40 minutes here and there and seems fine during them, it’s just his night time sleep! I read it can last for 6 weeks, I pray it doesn’t because I am shattered 🤣🤣

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡
