When do you plan to stop breastfeeding?

None judgment. Just curious to know. I am still breastfeeding my LO who is 2.5 years at night (not by choice she won't stop!)

I don’t know to be honest 😂 My lo is 19 months and still going strong! Just planning to play it by ear, happy still feeding at the moment

Avatar

During the night or before bed? Just curious :)

Still doing the before bed feed with my 2.5 year old… planning on stopping very soon!

Avatar

Only 5m in and I'm pretty sure (hoping), she will stay boobie monster and we can go 2+ years

Avatar

I stopped with my first when he was almost 2 but only because I was pregnant and he self weaned, was so upset! 5 months in with no 2 and hoping to go till 2 again or longer(last baby) so will be devastated when I stop!

Avatar

feed to sleep in her own bed. Then Usually wakes around 12am and comes into my bed. She can then wake some nights every hour or two for boobie until we get up around 7! I'm lucky if she feeds 5 times a night x

Avatar

My son turned 2 last month and he’s down to just one feed when he wakes up but it’s just a comfort feed as my milk has dried up due to pregnancy. He will sometimes ask for boobies at other times but doesn’t stay on for very long. I will be sad for our journey to end but glad it’s happening naturally. Although I am nervous that he will see his sibling feeding and want to start again 😆

Avatar

I exclusively pump and I’d like to make it to one year. But if my LO is still interested in breastmilk, I’d like to go for as long as possible.

Avatar

I’ve made it to 1 year & the state my nipples are in atm I’m seriously considering weaning her, i really wanted to make it until 2 but it just hurts all the time & it is really starting to affect my mental health

Avatar

it can be really hard. I have good and bad days. There have been times where I have been so sick of it and it makes me feel ikky! Then I have days where I look at her and I think it's lovely. I would like to stop soon though. She is so demanding when it comes to "boo boo" as she calls it. If I say no to her in the night she has a meltdown so it's easier just to keep going. I am worried she is never going to want to stop though! X

Avatar

do you think your little one is going to kick up a fuss when you do? I have tried to stop but she gets so upset it is just not worth the battle

Avatar

my sister went to 2.5 years and wanted to stop because of frequent night comfort feeds, she put a plaster on her nipples and said she has an ouie.... Daughter was fine, kept asked for a week or so, even gave kisses to heal sooner, but then she stopped, luckily no tantrums about it

Avatar

oh gosh! That is funny and thank god she didn't give her too much of a hard time. I really don't think my daughter would buy it though or care for that matter! She is very strong minded and when she wants something she is relentless!

Avatar

a little booby monster she is 😂😂😂 all I can do is wish good luck, she will eventually stop (I guess 😂😂)

Avatar

i planned to stop months ago. didn’t happen. so now, there’s no plan 😂 i’m just a pair of boobs at this point

Avatar

I will have to at 6 months when he goes into childcare. I may do comfort/binding feeds before bed but I'll phase it out by 12m.
I'll be wanting my body back tbh!

Avatar

I plan to use natural weaning, on my daughter’s schedule, and then my son’s. She’s still going at nearly 3.5, and I don’t see us stopping any time soon

Avatar

I’m going to probably start reducing it when I back to work around 9 months

Avatar

My LB is also 2.5 years old and still has a loot of boob when he is at home and still wakes up through the nigh for boobie juice. I'm not entirely sure I am ready to wean although I would love for the night feeds to stop.

Avatar

omg I feel the same.i am literally her little bitch. She basically owns me and thinks she has a right to my body! Lol

Avatar

I wanted to do natural weaning but I thought it may have happened by now. I hope she's not 20 and still amazing for it! Lol.
3.5 years is amazing though! 👏
Are you finding that other people are starting to put the pressure on and make you feel like your LO is too old now. I feel like that

Avatar

defo - mainly from my mum unfortunately (she was pressured to stop feeding me at 2yrs, before she was ready, and has passed it on to me). I’ve started attending my local La Leche League meeting for moral support and to be around people who get it. I have no plans to stop on anyone else’s schedule, though we do tend to only feed behind closed doors where possible. I hate being a closet breast feeder, and I want to be out and proud as it’s been such a journey, but I don’t want my daughter to catch wind of any stigma or shame

Avatar

it is such a shame that you feel like that. Fortunately I have managed to cut out day time feeds so this is not really an issue for me. I wouldn't have any issues doing it in public if I felt necessary though (if she's upset or hurt herself and I know only boo boo is going to suffice). I tell people all the time that i still breastfeed her at night. Luckily I havent had any negative responses (well not to my face anyway) and if I did I would probably tell them where to go. I have been told that certain family members have made negative comments about it when I ain't there but I couldnt give a flying fuck what they think! I get pressure mostly from my husband tbh. Partly my own fault because there are days where I have had enough and vent to him. He thinks she's getting too old for it and that I need to "just say no!". Easier said than done though ain't it when you know it is their everything x

Avatar

I think the issue we have today is that society have massively sexualised breasts and as a result some people have forgotten why we have them in the first place which is a shame really

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

4 month sleep regression

Does anyone else feel like they’re back in the newborn trenches through the 4 month sleep regression ?? 😭😭 my boy turned 4 months yesterday and the past 3 nights he’s woken up every 20-40 minutes. He does manage to get back off to sleep after I give him his dummy. It’s so strange though because his daytime naps don’t seem to be affected? He has 2 x long naps a day (around 2 hours) and a couple 30-40 minutes here and there and seems fine during them, it’s just his night time sleep! I read it can last for 6 weeks, I pray it doesn’t because I am shattered 🤣🤣

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡
