Holiday car seat

Hi ladies. We are planning to go to holiday and already changed car seat to join I-spin 360, so we don’t have portable one. Should I search for new one ? Or could be transfer with baby car seat ?
We are going to Canary Islands and it is our first journey together.
Please share your experience.

Following as we are in exactly the sabe situation!

We did a coach transfer from the airport to the hotel in majorca (about an hour). We didn't take a car seat and I just held our baby on my lap for the journey, it was absolutely fine. We saw a few other families do the same x

We’ve just come back from Portugal and we contacted the transfers who then supplied a car seat free of charge.
However for other short taxi rides while there I had baby on my lap and it was fine.

Usually you can find a way to rent a car seat or request one in the cars that transport you.

If not, coach is a popular with little ones. Personally would opt to always have a car seat booked for that extra safety but do what you think is best and easier for you! Xx

You don't need one abroad, I know lots of mums like the extra safety but honestly the transfers and everything are fine for baby to go on your lap

We went to Ibiza when LO was 7 months old, she sat on my lap with a seat belt around both of us in the coach transfer for 1 hour. Same when we took a taxi to the old town xx

Like most things regarding safety… it’s fine until it’s not fine.

Personally I wouldn’t risk it but some people do laps/slings etc as it’s easier for them to not carry a car seat.

You are not invincible in a taxi just because you are abroad.

Phone ahead and hire one in a private taxi or take one. Look on Facebook market place there are some great ones on there for holiday travel. Suss out the person when you meet them to view it.

We went to Greece and had her on our lap for the coach transfer. There wasn’t a three point seat belt on the coaches to strap a car seat in, only the two point belt across the lap

If you still have baby carrier and baby still fits in it then I’d use that- it might not be the comfiest but it’ll be safer than anything else

If you're going in a car, it would be safest to buy a good budget seat and bring it with you. Joie Stages and Joie Steadi are popular options for it. If little one still fits, use an infant carrier for now.
Renting a car seat is not recommended as you don't know their history and how old the seats are, they could have been in a clash and no longer safe. But it's probably safer than no car seat at all.
It's legal to have a child in your lap in a taxi and of course it's all fine if you're not involved in a crash but in a crash human reflex would be to let baby go so they'll be ejected from the car 😞

Nursery funding

My child turned 9 months last week. I applied for government funded hours nearly 2 months ago and so well within the required timeframe for the April term, however upon receiving my first invoice without the funding applied and having questioned this, I have now been informed that the stretched funding doesn’t start until 4th May.

Has anyone else been told it won’t start until May?

The government site states it should start from April 1st, and so I intentionally set my nursery start and return to work as the start of April for that reason, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to afford the nursery on my sole income without the funding

NHS job

Anyone work for the NHS and does 12 hour shifts? How do you work around childcare and your partners job?

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments

Is this normal?

Is it just my husband that does this? He is able to work from home via his computer and in the mornings and evenings he is on there doing his job. When he is done for the day he tends to stay in the room and either play video games or watch something. He will occasionally come out and play with the girls for a few minutes and that’s it but when I really need him he says he is busy. My daughters are both 1 year old now and I am just wondering how much involvement should he have with them now?
Idk if this is the norm or not…..

Starting BLW

Yesterday our pediatrician said we could start purées or baby lead feeding. My baby is exclusively breast-fed. She’s already tried some foods, but now we can start with one to two meals a day. This is what my doctor recommends, any ideas for what to make with this??
