Why won’t my baby sleep?! 😫

I’m having a really hard time with my LOs sleep the past couple of weeks and it’s really starting to get me down.

She’s always woken 2-3 times a night for feeds (she’s EBF), but this past 2 weeks she’s been waking every hour at least. I’ve always feed her to sleep and used the boob to settle her, but that means I’m now in a situation where I have to deal with all the wakings cos she just cries for me if my partner tries to settle her, so I’m basically sleeping in 15-20 minute intervals by the time she settles and I try to transfer her into her cot.

She also used to be no bother being transferred to her cot after feeding, but now she wakes the second her back touches the mattress. I use a heated mat in the cot before I put her down, and always have done, but even that isn’t helping.

I’m just so exhausted and feeling really stressed and useless since none of the things that have worked for the previous 6 months seem to work any more. It’s just a horrible feeling that there’s no end in sight and I feel like I’m never going to sleep again 😔

I don't have any advice but came to say I'm glad I'm not the only one. Since the 4 month regression my baby woke 5-6times a night but now its every 30-60mins and like yours, she wakes as soon as shes in the cot. Some nights i dont sleep at all til 7am when someone else can take her for a bit. No idea what to do and I'm beyond shattered 🧡

Also came to say I could have written this myself. Up every hour at least once and she only wants the boob so having to also do it all alone. Feel like we never came out the 4 month regression although I didn’t think there was much to regress from!

It’s nice to hear I’m not alone, but not nice that we’re all going thru it!! I felt like we had dodged the 4 month regression, but I’m starting to recognise it’s actually just been a gradual worsening for weeks now!!

I felt like I could just about get by with 3 wakings a night when I knew her first sleep would be around 4 hours, but now I don’t even get that 😢

Yep my baby wakes every hour too. He even refuses the bed and wants to sleep on top of me or in my arms as he does for his feed.

This last 3 weeks for me, but is slowly going back to before! Hope it does for you soon. Hang in there!

May I suggest temporarily co-sleeping ? Lullaby trust have published materials on how to do it safely and trust me.. you and little one will get a lovely long stretch of well needed rest xx

As Robyn said - I think co-sleeping saved me for a very sleep deprived miserable 6 months. We had a regression at 6 weeks and sleep is the main struggle for us but since we co sleep it's much easier. There was that period where she would wake more frequently and would be attached to the boob almost all morning but at least I don't have to get up and walk around with her. Although those frequent wakings are still difficult I managed to get some sleep.

I tried cosleeping last night bc of this, my baby slept way better but i was too anxious about the duvet or pillow smothering her to get any sleep still 🤦‍♀️

we had been Co-sleeping for a couple of weeks when staying with my in laws and it did make a massive difference, however at their house we were sleeping in a super king sized bed and had plenty of room. At home we’re only in a double and there’s really not enough space for me to feel safe (unless I kick my partner out 🤭) I was worried I’d made the situation worse by co-sleeping while we were away, but I think it would be bad regardless.

I’m also going through the same thing my LG used to wake 2/3 times a night until 4 months now it’s gone down hill. She used to do one longer stretch at the begging of the night and then the odd 2 hour wake up, now getting woken up 45 minutes- 2 hours. But the second I get her out of the cot and feed her she will happily sleep.
I have had the same thoughts about trying co sleeping but with a double bed it also scares me. She usually does the odd hour in the morning in our bed but I don’t feel I go into a really deep sleep at this time.
It’s really nice to know I’m not alone, just feel like I don’t even know what I’m doing anymore, not knowing how long this is going to last is painful.

My little one is the exact same, major developmental leap and growth around 6 months,
I co sleep with her, kicked partner to the sofa, cause I can't deal with his snoring and scooting up to me during night feeds, I use a cotton sheet, less heavier and thicker than a duvet, only have it up to my hips, I use her nursing pillow as my pillow as I can kinda tuck most behind my back, makes the freqent night wakes easier instead of up down all night, we've been like this for 6 weeks now :(

Should I be concerned or am I overthinking?

My little boy is 15 months old, he’s recently taken his first steps and he says mamma and dadda and baba (he has said these for months) we’ve filled out the paperwork for his 12-14 month review and it looks like he isn’t meeting many of his milestones.

He doesn’t copy actions, point, clap etc. He doesn’t react when being spoken to, or to his name. He actively avoids eye contact.

He was so unresponsive to sound that we just had his hearing tested concerned he was deaf. They found that he could hear so he is just choosing not to react to any noises or sounds.

Has anyone else had similar experiences with their little ones? Should I be raising this with the health visitor and ask to be assessed for neurodivergent issue or a social communication problem like autism?

I don’t want to just slap a label on him, but I do feel that there are real concerns. All opinions welcome!!

Routines?

When did you start to introduce your baby’s routine? Do they just have a night routine or full day routine? Wondering when I should start this e.g naps at the same time everyday.

Any routines you have that work for you, please let me know them with timestamps. my baby is 6 weeks and just wondering when we should start them?

Does anyone else’s baby spit up breastmilk but not formula?

I’m seriously considering seeing a lactation consultant because I don’t understand why he can’t hold down breastmilk but can formula. I use soy formula since I’ve used it with my daughter and I’m thinking it might be due to not getting milk coming in for a few days so I had no choice but to give him formula, but now even if I take breaks in between feeding him breastmilk to burp or try to mix breastmilk and formula, he spits it up sooo much. I’m ready to just give him just formula because I’m worried about him not eating enough

I think Motherhood has made me more bitter than I realized…

This is such a ramble but I don’t know where else to put it all.

I’m four months in and I don’t really have hobbies right now. I don’t do anything for myself except maybe doomscrolling or listening to a podcast while I breastfeed my baby. I used to craft and have game nights with friends. Activities that usually are at least 2 hour stretches. Now if I have an hour free my mind immediately goes to baby, or doing something in the house for baby.

And I thought I didn’t mind. Like I knew postpartum could be very mentally consuming. But I think it’s altering how I view people around me and it’s prodding at my relationship with my husband.

He spends most of his time making food for us, looking after our dogs, playing with the baby, ect. But he still has time for his hobby. Spends maybe an hour a night on it. Even adapted to using a bot for shopping for his hobby after a certain incident where we had to have a heart to heart after he left me home alone with the baby for hours during a busy workday (I work from home) to shop for his hobby.

And yet there’s like this little green eyed monster in me that rages every time I know he’s running off to start up the bot. Even though I’m the reason he does it this way.

We took a family trip last weekend to see his best friend and their kids and let them meet the baby. He brought the laptop. He’s always brought a laptop on trips and it’s never been a problem to me before. But one night we both woke up while the baby was still asleep, and he wandered out of the room. I tried to fall back asleep but couldn’t. So I went to the kitchen to try having something warm to drink to settle me. And he was there at the table running the bot from his laptop. I flipped out at him. But there really wasn’t reason to. It’s not like I needed help with the baby and he was ignoring me. He wasn’t avoiding our friends. He was just awake and unable to sleep and found something to do with his time. Yet my snap reaction was “why the hell would you do this on a family trip?”

I don’t know what it is. Maybe it’s the less complete sleep from baby’s middle of the night feed? My brain being just consumed by baby? Maybe I’m not as over that shopping incident as I thought? But I’m just so annoyed at his hobby right now. The green eyed monster thinks “you could be using that time differently” but realistically to do what exactly??? Stare at our baby in the dark???

I spent probably an hour apologizing to him after I snapped. And he’s of course hurt and frustrated because I said some very mean things in the moment.

I don’t want to be this jealous, angry person. But I also don’t know how to find time for myself in this right now outside of basic hygiene. It’s like I’ve forgotten how to be myself, even if just for an hour.

Maybe I need a therapist.
