Tired of being a mom

Is it normal to hate being a mother . I’m a stay at home mom and My son is near 7 months and it’s so hard. I reach a new breaking point everyday. He triggers my derealization. And my temper soo short fused I hate it . I don’t want to pick him up all the time. I’m tired and I don’t want to constantly try and play. But then he cry’s and crys. When we get a sitter for the night I feel so much better away from him. I hate this responsibility. I can’t even care for myself. I feel beyond guilty bc I love my son. I just wish it wasn’t so hard for me to be mother. I can’t just be like here he is. I’m leaving for a week and come back. Gosh this Is so hard .

You’re not a bad mom, this is a huge adjustment! And it sounds like your experiencing some postpartum depression and anxiety- which can often manifest in short tempers and a desire to just leave and get guilt at the thought because at the end of it all you do love your kid. I would talk to your doc about what you’re going through (if they’re a safe person) and see what they can help with.

I definitely went through the same thing, and pulling out the other side (it took a long time to get diagnosed and treated so my kid was almost 2 at this point) but I realized I actually really loved being his mom, I just needed my brain to stop crapping out on me 🙄

I mean I won’t have the exact same experience bc we’re not the same person, I have a lot of compassion for what you’re going through though, feel free to message me if you want

I feel like at some point every mother goes through this. It’s normal

I've felt this way off and on (my daughter is 3 now), and it's normal! I feel like it should be talked about more often in general so that those of us with these feelings know that it doesnt make us bad people. Also, like others have said, it could be postpartum depression and/or postpartum anxiety, in combination with what you're already dealing with. If there's a provider you feel comfortable talking about this to, I'd recommend doing that because they could offer some solutions, or at least point you in the right direction.

Also, just want to say it takes a lot of strength to talk about this with us! You're not alone ❤️❤️

Girl this is a reality for many moms especially new moms. You are not alone and honestly once you become a mom your brain will take you to so many different places at once. Just like others have said speak with your doc/therapist etc.
love and light to you, hope you get out of it soon❤️❤️🤗

I feel like postpartum is a societal construct of basically saying women are alone and have to figure it out on their own when becoming a mom.

Our parents and generations before us had HELP and SUPPORT. They didn’t have the endless expectations of hyper independence as a female, PLUS being nurturing and caring for every single thing in the household.

It’s no wonder we feel burnt out when we’re in our motherhood journeys when we’re practically thrown to the wolves.

You’re not alone. It is fucking EXHAUSTING.

If you ever need someone to vent to, feel free to reach out.
We all need outlets, let’s stop suffering alone.

amen! My mom didn’t have a lot of help from her mom so therefore I’ve been left to basically figure it out most times on my own. She helps about once a month if it fits her schedule. Finding a baby sitter is hell. I had to contact 5 girls for an OB appointment tomorrow for my 2.5 year old! 5! And let’s talk about differences now of raising kids versus our parents! I catch so much shit! I’m like mom I’m with you but if other people or a pediatrician find out we’re giving bourbon to the baby on the gums for teething they’ll flip. So let’s try that last or car seat safety! Ugh! Soo different. Also US care for women post partum is one of the worst in the world.

It’s normal to feel this way, I’ve felt the same way for over 2 years now. As above there is so much societal pressure to be this incredible supermum, who’s baby sleeps through the night, eats organic home made meals full of vegetables (and eats every last bite), has no screen time, is emotionally aware, hits every developmental milestone on time etc etc. And us mums are expected to be this perfect, radiant, nurturing, loving figure that never does anything wrong. But they forget we are humans too, with our own emotions, our own stresses and our own lives! I know some people say it gets better but I don’t think it does, I think you just have better days than others. You’re doing your very best, and the fact that you do feel guilty shows what a good mum you are and that you care! So don’t be so hard on yourself. ❤️❤️

I’m 2 and 1/2 years in and still feel this way. Honestly I don’t even recognize myself anymore. I miss my old life. But I do love my son deep. It’s so hard.

Why don’t you find work? Being a SAHM is the hardest there’s no way I could do it. Even if your pay all goes on daycare, you’ll get the chance to recharge your batteries

My friend is over from another country but I don't feel like leaving the house

One of my old friend's is visiting where I currently live and we agreed to meet up today but I feel so tired and exhausted from everything that's been going on with me. I feel if I meet her I'm going to end up having another breakdown from the exhaustion which I have been having often. I'm just thinking about how I need to rest to be able to deal with my toddler and go back to work on Monday without feeling like I need another weekend. I'm torn on what to do so I need you guys to help me decide

Post partum dad

I have a 2 month old. A few weeks ago my husband crashed out because he didn't feel like he was getting to bond with her. I started exclusively breastfeeding around that time and honestly didnt see the big deal. Baby and I left for a few days and when we got back home, everything was fine. He was extremely hands-on. He helped with my meals, her bedtime, bath, stories.....for a few weeks it was great. Then he randomly sounds depressed af. He says our lo is better off without him, he wants to sleep all day , he asks me not to watch tv then tried playing a video game. He refused to reply to me when i asked any follow-up questions. Then he woke up our baby trying to race me to the bathroom first thing in the morning . He's doing a weird mix of crying, trying, and giving up. Im starting to feel like I cant handle him not being able to handle life with baby and just want to be alone. Are there resources for men?

Weaning

Hello mamas, could I get some advice please with how and what to wean as started this week with my baby but not really what to give and when what time day. Have started with puree vegetables and making them myself and offering it in the evening to my baby but she tends to get irritated and tired and has a few spoonfulls and then gives up and has a meltdown. So I’m questioning myself am I feeding her wrong time of day and what’s best to mix the food with milk or baby rice please.

Do I need to pay anything when my child starts school in September

I'm a new mum and obviously didn't grow up in the uk. I currently pay roughly £640 for nursery fees. I'm wondering if my expenses will reduce when my LO starts school or there'll be other expenses (besides bags, uniform etc) will my expenses be anywhere close to £600 monthly?

People telling you your baby is hungry..

I know people don’t always mean it in a bad way and are trying to relate, but when people say my baby is hungry when chewing his hands. I feed him regularly. He eats pretty much every 2 hours. He isn’t hungry, he just loves chewing and exploring his hands. Or they say something about teething, which it is also not, as he isn’t unsettled with it. I have looked into it myself and can be common and neither of those things! He has done it most of the day since 2 months old.
