To all my single momma,
Are you struggling with parenting? I feel like my son is all over the place and I think it’s because he’s in the care of different people with different parenting styles
He only listens to me the most but it takes him a while to actually decide to listen.
My mom who watches him the most lets him get away with everything and she always lets him have his way, even during a tantrum and I don’t agree with it.
I’m more stern but gentle if that makes sense.
And im really struggling with feeling guilty for not being able to raise my own son and im struggling with getting him to listen
I keep telling everyone that he needs consistency but they don’t follow through, so I feel that my hands are tied

That has to be incredibly frustrating, I agree that consistency is the most important thing. Here in a bit of a rock and a hard place because I imagine these people are helping you with your child, they just don't see how they are not helping. I might suggest providing them some research or information from your pediatrician about the best ways to parent to your style so they have something concrete to look at. Maybe even a YouTube tutorial explaining how important consistent rules and routine are. Kind structure makes a child feel safe and like they know what to expect. If I wash my hands, I know I get fed every time. If I throw my toys, I know they get taken away every time.

My son’s almost 3 and I still struggle. I still get frustrated, overwhelmed, annoyed with the fact people think it’s okay to overstep my parenting. The reason why your child might or might not listen at times is because of them being conflicted because everyone is teaching him differently. STAND YOHR GROUND! Have a conversation with your mother… you are the one that needs to set boundaries. I have to constantly bud in or remind my mom that HEY! This is MY child I’m parenting him this way these are my rules etc, because my moms time has passed and if she wants to help me with my kid she’ll have to learn to respect my wishes. It’s a constant battle and sometimes I’m like I cannot wait to just cut contact but I know it’s only because I get frustrated with her. But forsure I’d set those boundaries and be extremely assertive towards them they are adults and should respect you. You’re a single mother, juggling everything and anything and that added stress isn’t okay.

Also it’s okay to give yourself a second I know it’s a lot when they throw their tantrums but just like adults sometimes we don’t listen when we’re emotional. And it’s worse with them because they are kids. So it’s fine to let them throw their for as long as they are safe.
