Calpol before or after 8 week immunisations?

Baby boy has his 8 week immunisations tomorrow. I’m sure when I had my little girl 6 years ago, we gave calpol around 30 minutes before the appointment. When booking my sons, they said to take the calpol with me.. what has everyone else done?

She had calpol straight after. Not before.

We were advised to give it after :)

My little one just got some right before them in the doctors office. As there was one that went into his mouth and didn’t taste nice

Avatar

I was advised to give it before. My LB is 7 month now and was ok after his first jab so I gave it before them all

Avatar

Just before we were told and followed 👌🏼

Gave it straight after - was specifically told not to give it beforehand x

I gave it before x

So they have an in mouth dose of a virus and then their jabs. We were told by the nurse to give it after the liquid but before the injections

Avatar

The nurse gave my baby hers immediately after. Was told to bring it with me

Avatar

We was told it’s more effective if given within 30 minutes after xx

One dose before and one dose after

Straight after. The effects you want from the Calpol work best up to 30 minutes after it’s taken. If you take it before you go in and end up waiting around it could have worn off by time you need it

Avatar

3 doses. First dose 30 minutes before immunisations, second dose 4 hours after from the first dose and third dose 4 hours after. It says on the leaflet. Although it depends what your doctor/hv advises you. Best to contact one of them instead of having wrong advice

Also were advised to do it after, as if you do it before it can mask any reaction they might have. We literally took it with us and gave it to him as soon as the second lot was done. The taste helped him forget about the pain. Not so much me 😂 I cried more than he did 😩

Avatar

Straight after, my health visitor told me not to give it beforehand as it could mask any of the symptoms that they could develop, we gave it straight after x

Avatar

After because they can only have 4 doses in 24 hours so it’s best to give it them straight after and for the rest of the day/evening xxx

8 week immunisations

My 8 week old has his first set of injections tomorrow and I’m abit nervous. Does anyone have any advice for after the jabs? I know they get a temp after so have got some calpol to give just before hand. Should I put him to bed in less clothing to make sure he doesn’t get too hot? Any tips from your experience with first set of immunisations? Am I worrying more than I need to? 😅

Of these two, which seems more overall “demanding” to you, overall? Lighthearted poll, not putting anyone down 🫶🏼

As a mum who breastfed for 3 years, I think formula feeding seems 100x harder and more demanding. I give those mamas all the credit because I could not keep up with that faff haha. I truly don’t understand why people say breastfeeding is more effort, other than the fact that no one else can do it. But personally I’d take that over endless bottle prep & cleaning.

Signs of Neurodivergent Toddler

Any moms of neurodivergent toddlers who could help me out? My son is 13 months old. I know that is technically too early for a diagnosis, but I have a gut feeling that he is on the autism spectrum.

The main sign he shows is hand leading. He does not point at all, and instead will take my hand and lead me anywhere he wants to go,
getting very frustrated if I do not follow.

He is also extremely sensitive to being touched, especially when it comes to hats and putting clothes on. He won’t let anything touch his head or face and I have to fight him to brush his teeth, comb his hair, etc.

He’s very interested in things that aren’t toys and will repeat the same behavior over and over. He can go in and out of doors or walk up and down stairs for hours. He loves taking things out of containers and putting the back in repeatedly.

We recently took him on his first vacation and he REALLY struggled with the change. He struggles with any type of transition or change in routine.

He laughs, makes eye contact, mostly responds to his name, but doesn’t do any other gestures.

Normal toddler behavior or signs of ASD? Let me know your thoughts!

11 month old constantly standing in cot

Please tell me someone has some advice for this cause wow it’s trying. My almost 11 month old is fully on the move now and his new favourite thing is repeatedly pulling to stand in his cot. The problem is that he wears a sleep sack (mainly so his legs don’t get stuck between the bars tbh lol) so he’s not stable enough to lower himself down. So earlier he fell backwards and hit is head and now we feel like we can’t just leave him to it. Typically it’s his first full day at nursery tomorrow and my first day back at work IT’S LIKE HE KNOWS!!
Please tell me someone has some tips. Currently we are quietly placing him back on his back every time but he just keeps doing it! 🤣🤡
