Exclusively breastfed + co-sleeper=horrible sleeper

My 12 month old sleeps on a floor bed. He was horrible with crib transfers, so now I nurse him back to sleep and roll away. He used to sleep for at least 2 hours, sometimes 3 or 4. I would go to bed, nurse him back to sleep, leave to my bed, and eventually end up in his bed early in the morning after too many wakeups. He's always woken up a ton.

Tonight he went to bed at 7:40pm and he has already woken up 4 times (10:15pm). He rolls around, cries, sits up, or starts crawling off his bed. I'm not comfortable CIO, night weaning, or sleep training. But geeeez, why is he such a horrible sleeper. I know developmentally this is a big time, but his sleep has always been horrible and this isn't new/would go along with a developmental reason.

He wakes up around 6:40-7:00, nap 12-1:40(sometimes 2), bedtime nurse/rock to sleep starts around 7:30. I had to drop him to 1 nap because he was fighting the 2nd nap and wouldn't take it and then would mess up his bedtime. I tried for a week to stay with 2 napa, but it wasn't working. I tried to put him to bed closer to 7 (on 1 nap), but he fights it and isn't ready.

Why does he wake so frequently? Advice? This is such a hard season of life.

I didn't want to fully night wean but I couldn't bear the nights where she would wake up over and over..I started holding her while she cried, at first she cried and maybe felt bad, but it only took about 5 minutes, then she would sleep 4-5 hours. That only took about 1 night. She quickly learned she could go back to sleep without nursing. For some reason she has the longest stretch when I just hold her to sleep. It was not painful like I thought it would be. She wakes up to nurse 1 time now which is fine with me.

@Anna Burke I could try that. He used to let my husband rock him to sleep, but now he screams. If he can settle him down then he'll still wake up shortly after. Maybe I'll try holding longer because I did do that last night, but once I laid him on his bed then he woke up.

Yeah laying her down has really been a struggle. I've mostly been doing the roll away.

My daughter is a horrible sleeper as well. I have her sleep at 10:30pm ish just so she can sleep in more but she still wake up 3x a night. I’ve been trying to ween her off of breast feeding so I’ve been giving her a bottle of either soy milk, oat milk or pea milk, and it seems to get to sleep a little longer at night before waking up again. I would still breast feed during the day. I feed her real food around 8pm as well so she will be full. Try that, maybe it’ll help? Maybe he’s hungry. Breast milk digest pretty fast.

I could have written this myself. Last night was every hour. I’m hoping it’s just developmental bc he just started walking and still hasn’t said any meaningful words. So hopefully that comes soon and he (I) can get some rest.

I did this, too!

Can someone pls help i keep making this post and nobody is responding

My boyfriend booked a trip for us to go to mexico for a week as my push present. I have severe anxiety leaving my 7 month old with my mom. I know she will be in good hands but she’s exclusively breast fed for the most part but accepts bottles just fine. i have all my pumping parts packed and will pump when baby normally eats but i don’t want baby to forget me or have latch issues when i return!! any mommas ever experience this?

Postpartum

I’m only 3 days postpartum (FTM) and already have extremely bad anxiety. I’m crying every night, as I think of another night of no sleep. My baby will not settle in his cot, he cries every moment we put him down unless in his chair rocker. So me and my partner are having to alternate after 3/4 hours of being awake with him downstairs. I’m trying everything to get him to settle. It’s a load of overwhelming stress. I’m 23, I was desperate for a baby and now I have one and feel completely useless. I miss it just being me and my partner.

I feel like just a milk cow

Hi I have a 16 day old via c section, I'm a FTM never having been around babies before as I am the youngest of my household and from a small family. My husband is fantastic with our little one. But ever since I've had the baby I just feel like the only thing I'm good for is producing milk. I feel disconnected from my husband like the only reason he's around is because am producing milk. We were having some issues before the baby and we're struggling it took a while to feel like he was onboard even though he said he was from the moment we found out. I dunno if I'm feeling like a spear part because I'm lacking confidence with baby or because I feel like he wouldn't mind being a single dad. Is this postpartum hormones or something else?

When does it get better?

I was crying on the phone with the perinatal mental health team today and the lovely lady, bless her, kept assuring me that it gets better. I kept telling her I hope so because people have been saying that since having my LO and it just feels like it keeps getting worse. She assured me it gets better....

Crawling

Did anyone’s little one start crawling yet? I feel like we are falling behind but really have no idea. I’m trying to introduce more floor time but it’s been rough because of having hardwood floors and our 80 lb oblivious to life dog. I got us a carpet for the living room and trying to put the dog out more when the weather allows. She sits like a pro and will roll to get the things she needs😅 but no real signs of crawling yet.
