Anxious about MIL moving close by during newborn phase

I’m an a FTM and due end of Dec and I’ve known that my in laws are moving to our neighborhood on a short-term basis for the first 4 months of baby’s life. Then they will be moving about 2 hours away.

As my due date approaches I’m getting increasingly nervous about it. This is a first grandchild for them and I know they’re excited and also that I can’t stop them from moving nearby. My partner and I have communicated to my MIL that she shouldn’t have specific expectations of seeing the baby and that I won’t know what any visitation schedule will look like until I can come up for air post-birth. But I know I will feel overwhelmed/guilty knowing they’re here and that I’m keeping them away from baby. My partner has reinforced the message too but I can’t shake my anxiety about feeling them hovering around(even if they aren’t in the house). I also just like don’t want her advice or input.

Does anyone have any tips for good ways to communicate this apprehension to my in laws as well as my partner? Any good schedules/boundaries that have worked well for you in similar situations? I was thinking maybe saying okay one day a week for an hour (and maybe I can be out of the house or napping) and then maybe stop by another time to help/bring us food and briefly see baby. I don’t want to offend anyone and I’m usually the type that lets people walk over me, but I don’t want this precious time in MY life to be about them. I know later on I will be grateful for their help, but the newborn time I really just am feeling so protective over. Help! 😭

Girl!! Im kind of in the same boat! My MIL lives in vegas but shell be here for 14 days when im due the 1st week of december. One good is it sounds like your hubby is on the same page as you and as long he continues to reiterate to them what you and him both want, they should respect that. My hubby has literally told his mom what she will and wont be doing, shes very pushy and overbearing. I feel the same way you do, im stressing about her being here. My parents will also be here and i feel stressed about my MIL thinking that im going to allow my mom to help out more, which i will. 😂

Also, you can have them help with little things, like bringing you food, neccesities, and maybe some small chores. 🤷🏽‍♀️ just a thought.

Lololol yes my mom will definitely see me more, as it should be!!
One piece of advice I got was for the first 2 weeks, no one should be over at your house who you aren’t comfortable seeing your boobs. You shouldnt have to cover up to feed your newborn in your own home.
I’m glad your MIL will only be there for 2 weeks, and yea use your husband to enforce the boundaries! Good luck to you

Partner no longer wants baby #2

Before our son was born we originally both wanted minimum 2 kids but we were hoping for 3-4. My partner found the birth traumatic to watch and also struggled a lot with the newborn/baby stage. He no longer wants to have any more children and it’s completely breaking my heart. I need another baby. We’ve spoken about it a lot and the options. He said he wasn’t COMPLETELY closed off to it so I asked him to try and work through his feelings and reconsider his decision. He eventually said he definitely doesn’t want another. I know that I will always want one and my feelings will never change. Do we have to break up or does anyone know anything else I can do to help change his mind? Has anyone else’s partner said this and then changed their mind? I don’t want to break up because I adore him and our life together and I’d hate to split up our family for “selfish” reasons and make my son miss out on having both of us together but I just don’t know what to do

Nursery funding

My child turned 9 months last week. I applied for government funded hours nearly 2 months ago and so well within the required timeframe for the April term, however upon receiving my first invoice without the funding applied and having questioned this, I have now been informed that the stretched funding doesn’t start until 4th May.

Has anyone else been told it won’t start until May?

The government site states it should start from April 1st, and so I intentionally set my nursery start and return to work as the start of April for that reason, knowing that I wouldn’t be able to afford the nursery on my sole income without the funding

Jealous of my husband

I’m so jealous of him and it’s making me resentful. We have a ten week old and I’m jealous that he is at work all day. I’m jealous he can leave for lunch and actually eat an uninterrupted lunch. Take a phone call uninterrupted. Chat with a friend he runs in to uninterrupted. Even go to the bathroom when he wants uninterrupted. He comes home from work when he wants. He’s not on a set schedule. Some days are late some are early. It depends on when he’s done. I’m jealous he can come home at 10pm and shower, eat and go right to bed uninterrupted because I already have the baby asleep. He doesn’t have to worry about anything house wise or baby wise because I’ve done it all. Meanwhile I’m covered in puke and crap and smell like rotten milk. When he is home he is VERY active and helpful. So it’s not that. I’m just jealous his world hasn’t changed and mine has I guess. This isn’t something he’s doing wrong so I’m not sure how to get past this. I wish I could keep him home all day because that’s how helpful he is, but I understand he obv needs to work.

Toddlers

How often are your toddlers asking for food? My oldest who is 3 just finished a whole plate of food and not even 10 minutes later he’s requesting more food. I know he’s going through a growth spurt, but how do you respond to this.

He has no respect for anything to do with me.

Husband and I decided to separate 3 days ago. I've been sleeping on the floor in the kids room, and we both have to stay in the same apartment for a while. He wont stop pushing little things and I am reaching my limit. Photos in comments
